Random Tinta Negra Fact (№7)
Tinta Negra’s full historical name is Tinta Negra Mole.
“Mole” in Portuguese means soft or gentle. The name likely refers to the grape’s relatively soft skins and easy pressing compared to tougher varieties.
Over time the “Mole” part gradually disappeared from everyday use, and today most people simply call it Tinta Negra.
