Visiting Luis Rodrigues at his new Vila Real based *LR Wine Experiences* project, for the first time, since its completion. An absolutely spectacular day spent with he and his wife Ivone, plus his team led by Sandra. The tasting of a wide range of outstanding White, Tawny and Colheita Ports was off the charts, as was our lunch! Top notch hospitality in the Douro! 🥂🙏🇵🇹

Port Harvest Tour 1 is well underway, today we head up to the Douro for some epic adventures visiting new projects, first time quinta visitations and a few old friends too.

Porto Vista Alegre 1969 Colheita. I opened one in July that was not as excellent as previous bottles. I will open this one later in the week to get a sense if I can chalk up the last one to bottle variation, “travel shock”, or poor judgement when loving it the first time. IF I had not purchased this when visiting the Quinta, I would certainly question the misspelling — “ALLGRE” which just looks wrong. 🍷

How fortunate.
I still prefer the 1935 Niepoort Colheita, but this was still exceptional. Not sure I will ever get to taste this again.
