SPRING STRIBOG DAY. Warm winds, Stribog grandchildren, bring the warmth of spring, which is mixed with the bad weather.
People celebrated Wind Fedula and Windy Fedora on 5 Cvetenya / April at time of dual belief in Rus. The people say: «Fedul came - he blew warmth», «Before Fedula north wind is blowing and a warm wind is blowing after Fedula Day», «Came Fedul, warm wind blowing, Fedul opened the windows, heated the house without firewood». If it was the bad weather during these days, the people say: “How our Fedul lips puffed out from wind”.

СТРИБОГОВ ДЕНЬ или СТРИБОГ ВЕШНИЙ – тёплые ветры, Стрибожьи внуки, приносят весеннее тепло, перемежающееся с ненастьем.
В пору двоеверия на Руси 5 цветеня/апреля отмечали Федула Ветренника и Федору Ветренницу. В народе говорили: «Пришёл Федул – теплом подул», «Федул тепляком подул», «До Федула дует северяк, а с Федула теплынью тянет», «Пришёл Федул, тёплый ветер подул, окна отворил, избу без дров натопил». Если же на Федула стояло ненастье, говорили: «Ныне наш Федул с ветра губы надул».

VODOPOL (THE MOVEMENT OF ICE) or VODYANOY NAME DAY. The Mermaids and Vodyanoy awakening after winter sleep. It was the start of the river flooding.
The people celebrated Vodopol Nikita on 3 Cvetenya / April at time of dual belief in Rus. On this day, the fishermen bring the tribute (make treby) to Vodyanoy, they noted: «If the ice does not pass on this day, the fish catch is meager*». Beginning of the breaking the ice was preceded by Tit and Polycarp Ledolom (Cvetenya / April), «river-mother is dancing», «Crow cawed-cawed and cawed about Polikarpov day», “The ice breaks - it is dangerous to walk on ice”. According to legends, mermaids come ashore, asking people about canvas to cover nakedness. Mermaids (rusalki) come ashore on Akulina (on 7 Cvetenya / April). That is why, since the dawn, the women bring a clean linen shirt or a piece of canvas on the banks of rivers and lakes on this day. They believed that mermaid will take care of them and their whole family from the deep water.
Polovod Antip was celebrated (on 11 Cvetenya / April), shortly after Nikita Vodopol and Akulina: «Antipas poured out water», «Antip Vodopol - cup hems of your skirts, to have a place where to pour the corn».
* - Recorded with the words of living near the Oka river.

ВОДОПОЛ или ИМЕНИНЫ ВОДЯНОГО – пробуждение Водяных и русалок после зимнего сна, начало ледохода и разлива рек.
В пору двоеверия на Руси 3 цветеня/апреля отмечали Никиту Водопола. В этот день рыбаки приносили требу Водяному, примечали: «Если лёд в этот день не пройдёт, то рыбный лов будет худой*». Ему предшествовал Тит и Поликарп Ледолом (2 цветеня/апреля) – собственно начало ледолома: «Загуляла река-матушка», «Ворона каркала-каркала да Поликарпов день и накаркала», «Лёд ломается хрястно – ходить по нему опасно». На Акулину (7 цветеня/апреля), по поверьям, русалки выходят на берег, просят у людей холстины – наготу прикрыть. Потому-то в этот день, ещё на заре, приносили бабы на берега рек и озёр чистые льняные рубашки или просто куски холста, веря, что за это русалки оберегут от глубокой воды их самих и всё их семейство.
Вскоре после Никиты Водопола и Акулины отмечался Антип Половод (11 цветеня/апреля): «Антип воды распустил», «Антиповы водополы – подставляй подолы, жита некуда сыпать будет».
