It started with a dream to become more self sufficient and to live closer to the land. It has since become so much more than the dream of self sufficiency. It has become a realisation that we are connected to our food in a way that todays world has almost lost sight of, and an awareness of how we are connected to our planet, and how we can benefit nature through raising animals in an ethical and s
ustainable way that complements nature and its resources. Here at Windbrook Farm we have a small milking herd of Jämtland goats, a native Swedish breed which is at risk of endangerment. Our goats are fed on pasture and ecological grain, we have Linderöd pigs, another native Swedish breed, also an endangered breed. Our pigs live free range in the forest, and have several hectares of grazing forest to roam. We also raise a growing flock of hens for both meat and eggs. We keep a variety of hens, Hedemora, Orpington crosses, Brahmas and a couple of other cross breeds. We use sustainable practices, encourage biodiversity, and actively choose to work with techniques such as Holistic management, Permaculture, and Regenerative Agriculture. Here you can follow us on our farm, and keep up to date on our projects.
