1. Eliminate waste fruit from urban gardens by turning it into local produce.

The Urban Fruit Initiative is a cooperative social enterprise offering a sustainably produced, locally-sourced apple juice, harvested from surplus fruit in urban gardens. Foster collaborative production and consumption – mobilizing the community to use shared assets to their full potential by working together.

3. Contribute to sustainable urban communities – through engagement, education and loca

l identity.

4. Build a viable business model to expand and replicate the initiative in other cities and regions. Business concept: The business idea is to arrange an annual urban fruit harvest and collection service, pooling the unwanted / surplus fruit of individual land-owners, processing it to create and then sell a “local juice” for consumption in the surrounding urban area. In so doing, the Urban Fruit Initiative will offer a new community service, produce a unique product, enhance local identity and pride, and contribute to sustainable urban living.
