In the mid-1960s, Ofelio Fattoi left the sharecropping life and bought his own plot of land in Montalcino. He started with nothing but a pair of hands and a love of work. The first vines went in around 1972, and the 1979 vintage produced fewer than 800 bottles. 🌱

From that humble start grew one of Montalcino’s most enduring estates — around 10 hectares of Sangiovese, farmed the traditional, patient way, with wine aged in large casks just as it always has been. And here’s the best part: grandfather Ofelio, now 86, still turns up at the winery every day to give his opinion. “He’s always right,” says his granddaughter Lucia. 👴

The result is their Brunello di Montalcino: powerful yet elegant, with cherry, leather, to***co and dried herbs, and the structure to age for years.

One more thing that makes us smile: Sweden is one of Fattoi’s biggest markets in the world. So this Tuscan family’s wine has a real home here. 🇮🇹🇸🇪

Take a trip to Italy tonight — no passport required. 🇮🇹

From the sparkling hills of Lombardy to the noble reds of Tuscany, Italy packs more variety into one country than almost anywhere on earth. Here’s a four-stop flight you can pour this week:

Doppio Erre Franciacorta — Italy’s answer to Champagne, made the traditional way

Castiôn Moscato d’Asti — sweet, lightly sparkling, and just 5.5%

Tenuta Vignega Valpolicella Ripasso — the rich “baby Amarone”

Fattoi Brunello di Montalcino — powerful, age-worthy Sangiovese

Four regions, four moods, one glorious country. All on the shelf at Systembolaget now.

Rioja. But make it white. 🤍

When you think Rioja, you think bold reds — but this family winery in Laguardia is about to change that. On 7 August, Eguren Ugarte Crianza Blanco lands in Sweden: a barrel-aged white Rioja from a self-financed, independent family estate farming 93 hectares of their own vineyards in Rioja Alavesa.

Expect real character — the freshness of a white with the depth that only oak-ageing brings. A Decanter-awarded surprise for anyone who thinks they know Rioja. 🍷

“Certified Sustainable” gets printed on a lot of labels. Here’s what it actually looks like on the ground. 🌿

Pedroncelli has farmed the same corner of Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma, for over 90 years — and their thinking is refreshingly simple: they want the next generation to be able to keep farming here, so protecting the land isn’t a marketing line, it’s survival.

Good wine that’s good to the land. That’s the long game. 🌍

Napa Valley. But make it pink. 🌹

On Friday, The Vice Rosé lands in Sweden — a dry rosé of Pinot Noir, made in small batches from Carneros fruit picked early to keep it crisp, bright and endlessly drinkable. Think lightly salted strawberries and a clean, savoury finish. Napa pedigree, no Napa pretension.
Two days. Set a reminder. ⏳

Every bottle has a family behind it. 👨‍🌾 Meet the Scotts — the pioneers behind Cecilia Brut.

Three generations of Marlborough history in every glass. 🍇 Available now at Systembolaget.

Back in 1973, Allan Scott planted some of the first vines in Marlborough, long before anyone was sure fine wine could grow there. In 1990 he and his wife Cathy founded their own winery — one of the region’s very first independents.

Today it’s still proudly family-run: their children Josh and Sara took the reins in 2021, growing the grapes and crafting the wine just across the road from where it all began.

And the sparkling? It’s named Cecilia after the family matriarch, Catherine Cecilia Scott — a lifelong lover of bubbles. Made in the traditional method with a second fermentation in the bottle, it’s fresh, floral and elegant. 🥂

Available now at Systembolaget!
