“Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world.” - Miyamoto Musashi, Dokkōdō (1645)
To struggle for an ideal, we must first define the ideal we are willing to uphold—an obvious truth, yet one that is often difficult to grasp. We can only fight for what we truly want; we want what we admire; and we can only admire what we have come to know.
After more than a year of research, paperwork, and certified documentation—along with the invaluable support of my big brother, Angel Furukawa—I was finally granted access to the Koseki, the Japanese family registry of my Furukawa lineage. This moment stands as a profound milestone in my life.
Standing on the sacred grounds where my ancestors were born, lived, dreamed, and embraced both life and nature, I made a decision from the deepest place within my heart: I chose to forgive my father. Despite the pain he caused and the suffering I carried for so many years, I recognize that he is, and will always be, my father—my blood. And despite everything, I love him.
Today, we are at peace.
With this, I continue my journey—pursuing my dreams with honor, with courage, with determination, with kindness, and with a heart full of love and joy.
We are no more real than our dreams.
