“International style can be produced by everyone, everywhere. My wines are my own. They are here and now. And that is for me the most beautiful thing. Like my life in the vineyards”.
On the eastern, and warmest, side of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland, Austria, lies the estate of Judith Beck. While Judith’s parents founded the family estate in 1976, it was her first vintage in 2001 that set the stage for her eventual takeover in 2004. After studying at Klosterneuburg Viticulture College and gaining experience at renowned wineries across France, Italy, and Chile, she returned home with a clear vision for the estate’s future.
Inspired by the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and with a commitment to ecological responsibility, Judith began converting the estate to biodynamic viticulture in 2007, with her first biodynamic vintage following in 2010. Today, nearly all of her wines are certified organic.
Minimal intervention defies Judith’s approach. Grapes are harvested by hand, the wines remain unfined and unfiltered, and only zero to minimal SO2 is added. The resulting wines are elegant, fruit-driven, and complex, expressing both the character of the vineyards and Judith’s philosophy of authenticity.
