The Hougang Otah Story ❤️

Why “Hougang Otah”? Our name carries a little piece of our founder’s story.

She lived in Hougang kampung, and we named the business after that kampung. Our first factory was also in Hougang.

Many of you may know us from our Kallang Airport hawker stall, but “Hougang” reminds us of our roots—a place close to our founder’s heart.

A name that carries our story, wherever we go. 🌿

Some of us love otah with nasi lemak or tucked into bread. Our banana leaf otah has a softer texture that suits both.

When you want something to enjoy on its own, spicy coconut leaf otah gives you a chewier bite. Just remember to remove the wooden pick before eating.

Every little wooden pick is still inserted by hand to keep the leaf closed around our otah. 🌿 It looks like a tiny step, but it takes a lot of time and careful work from our team.

As it grills, the leaf brings out that familiar aroma we all know. These leaves are getting harder for us to source, but we still make the effort to wrap our otah in them.
