It is the unwavering efforts to protect and coexist with the microbes that live in the soil and the environment surrounding the crops. Soil plays an important role in supporting a vast array of microbes and insects which is essential for the maintenance of plant ecology. These important microbes coexist symbiotically with intricate root systems, decomposing organic matter, taking up nutrients and recycling these nutrients making them available to plants. At Chitose Agriculture, we promote healthy balanced soil ecology using microbes and organic matter without the reliance on pesticides and chemical fertilizers through CAI. Through the years of collaborations with like-minded artisanal farmers, have scientifically defined and unravel "wholesome soil" derived from the unique Japanese perspective of microbes using sophisticated sensors which lead to strong foundation for the concept of CAI. Envisioning the lives of humankind, a thousand years from now. It is no secret now that conventional industrial farming will destroy the agriculture land and render the soil unusable for farming in the future. However, agriculture is necessary for the survival of humankind. We fully understand the importance of working together with our partners as one cohesive unit; starting from producers and involving all along the value chain down to our consumers. To achieve this, we have created a novel system for sustainable agriculture based on Japan's traditional culture of cherishing arable land. By fully utilizing the power of science to maintain the current agricultural lands, in order for humankind to continue living in abundance, as well as yielding and savoring wholesome and delicious produce even after a thousand years to come. The birth of our very own farm in Cameron Highlands. To materialize our mission of developing agriculture that meets both economic and environmental sustainability in the tropic regions through CAI, we started a farm in Cameron Highlands in 2014, managing the whole process from cultivation to production and marketing collectively. Our advanced agriculture technology experts and biologists have worked together to develop sustainable and economically viable agriculture that is suitable for tropical regions. We have successfully transferred our Japanese agricultural technology to local farmers enabling the cultivation and sale of high value-added produce. It is our hope to spread the values of CAI throughout South East Asia; the key to enable humankind to continue wholesome agriculture even a thousand years from now, through selling high quality produce and development of production methods while maintaining a ‘wholesome’ soil ecosystem. We are now partnering with restaurants, cafes, patisseries, departmental stores, supermarkets, and distributors who understand the concept of CAI.
