Because of the chicken ban previously, it was so hard to get a proper plate of chicken rice the past one month. Finally satisfied my cravings at Ah Five Hainanese Chicken Rice / Fried rice / Porridge! 👍🏻

【本地】甘榜鸡不来了 小贩们怎么办？

政策急转弯，马国甘榜鸡和有机鸡不能出口马国，让原本售卖甘榜鸡的小贩们空欢喜一场。
　　在竹脚巴刹售卖甘榜鸡的摊贩扎米拉（65岁）受访时说道，现在只能走一步看一步，如果没有甘榜鸡卖那就干脆不开档休息。
　　老王甘榜芽菜鸡饭老板王协丰（52岁）同样告诉记者，没有甘榜鸡就只好休息。
　　“都没有东西可以卖啊！”
　　“五星海南鸡饭”创办人之一李大经的儿女李堡（30岁）和李逊（27岁）去年在宏茂桥开了“亚五二代海南鸡饭”，主打使用甘榜鸡。
　　李堡接受本报访问时说道，还没来得及为甘榜鸡可以进口的事开心，政策就改变了。
　　“目前是能卖一天是一天，也做好准备要改卖别的海南菜。本地有蛮多海南菜如咸水鸭、炸猪扒、咖喱菜，有必要的话我们会试图改路线，但不会考虑冷冻鸡只。” （报道：刘慧祺、郑欣恩）（图：刘慧祺）

We also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who have been supporting us along the journey to keep hawker culture alive! 🙂

This is definitely not just a trophy to us!

Nowadays, it is common to see many individuals have broader job selection who holds higher qualification, there’s always better choices than just being a hawker. In a nutshell, many factors (incl. but not limited to initial capital, commitments, customer facing, price increase, low budget & high expectations) setback young adults joining as hawker being one of the reason lead to hawker food categorised under heritage asset over time.

Nevertheless, I appreciate many hawkers are still willing to present the most affordable food to the public. As well as we, as a next generation staying true to our motivation and continue upholding our dad’s chicken rice days.
