In most cases, shrimp don’t simply stop breeding overnight. It’s often a sign that something in the tank has changed—sometimes gradually, sometimes subtly.

Before making multiple changes, take a step back and observe your tank. Check the basics, identify what may have changed, and adjust accordingly.

Sometimes it’s not the tank—it’s the shrimp. As they age, breeding naturally becomes less frequent.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that Caridina shrimp are “too difficult” to keep.

The truth is, they aren’t difficult—they simply have different requirements from many other aquarium species.

Once you understand their needs and provide a stable environment, keeping and breeding Caridina becomes much more predictable.

Every experienced Caridina keeper started as a beginner. Don’t let myths stop you from starting yours.
