Most people treat ironing like punishment.
Ben treats it like therapy. 😌

Warm steam. Crisp lines. Instant results.
One wrinkled shirt in, one “I’ve got my life together” shirt out.

But honestly, this is about more than just ironing.
For many neurodivergent people, learning the process matters.

Sorting clothes.
Knowing what needs ironing and what doesn’t.
Using the right hanger.
Choosing to fold or hang.
Organising clothes back into the correct cupboard or room.

These are essential life skills that build:
• structure
• independence
• sensory awareness
• decision-making
• emotional regulation
• task completion

And the best part?

The satisfaction of seeing everything done properly.

Even neurotypical children won’t automatically understand these routines if nobody teaches them.

If they never experience the process, they never fully learn how to manage it.

Sometimes a simple household chore is actually a powerful lesson in life, routine, and self-confidence. 👔✨️

Today marks a small but very meaningful milestone for Ben — receiving his very 1st Notice of Assessment from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore after submitting his first income tax declaration. 😊

It may not be a million-dollar income, but the value of this experience is priceless.

This journey is not just about earning money. It’s about helping Ben understand his self-worth, recognising his abilities, and learning important life skills that will guide him towards independent living and self-reliance.

From learning the importance of work, travelling independently to work, being punctual and responsible, working diligently, managing his own expenses, buying his own meals, and many more valuable lessons — every step is part of growing into adulthood.

As parents/caregivers, sometimes the greatest achievement is not the amount earned, but seeing them gain confidence, responsibility, and pride in what they can do on their own.

One step at a time, one milestone at a time.

Gardenia retrenching 141 workers and shifting bakery operations to Malaysia is heartbreaking. Behind every number is a family trying to survive tough times — especially ordinary families with vulnerable children.

Recently, my family has been loving their sourdough range ❤️ which makes this news feel even heavier.

My own family went through a difficult season from mid-2024 to 2025, so I understand the stress and uncertainty many households are facing today. Grateful we managed to pull through together 🙏🏼

Keeping the 141 affected families in prayer — may brighter opportunities and better days come soon. Wishing Gardenia and its workers strength and wisdom through this difficult transition. ❤️

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐦𝐞: 𝐛𝐮𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 😅

Just got myself a new LG gram. First impression? Crazy light. Feels like carrying a notebook instead of a laptop. Big screen too — important at this age with presbyopia (lao hua 👵🏻🤣). And finally, no more waiting 10 minutes for apps to load 😂

My old laptop was so underused. The shop said it wasn't worth fixing years back, but I refused to replace it. So I just kept using it for basic tasks and Excel data entry for BAKES by Ben. That was enough.

Not buying this to become a tech bro or chase "get rich online" dreams. I'm taking AI courses to understand how the world works now — landing pages, funnels, automation. Because as a SAHM raising an autistic son, I've been in survival mode for years.

Technology moved on while I stayed in my comfort zone.

Honestly? The hardest part is feeling like everyone else knows things I've never heard of. I'll be in a lesson Googling terms, then Googling the explanation of that explanation 😅 Sometimes it feels like I'm chasing a train that left years ago. That self-doubt is real.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐈'𝐦 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩. 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Because discomfort beats standing still. And maybe one day I can pass this to Ben too — not just skills, but the confidence to keep learning at his own pace.

𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝. 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭.

But at least now I have a laptop that can survive the journey with me 🚀
