500g of minced meat. How hard could it be???

We put everyone to test to see who could hand-weigh closest to 500g… and the results weren’t what we expected at all 😂

But one lucky guess doesn’t make you a butcher☝️
Our butchers use a weighing scale to portion every order, so you can be sure you’ll never receive less than what you paid for!

Our manager’s not a fan of pork vinegar, but the rest of us beg to differ- we love it! 👵💛 Here‘s another OG recipe passed down from grandma’s kitchen.

Today we‘re using pork belly instead of the usual trotters as they’re easier to prep, faster to cook, and honestly just as satisfying.🙌

Ingredients
🛒 1kg cubed pork belly (skin on!)
🛒 12 hard-boiled eggs, peeled
🛒 1 bowl sliced old ginger
🛒 750ml black sweet vinegar
🛒 200ml water
🛒 2-3 tbsp sesame oil
🛒 ½ cup Shaoxing w**e
🛒 Sugar & salt to taste

Let‘s cook:
1️⃣ Blanch the pork belly for 5 mins, and set aside
2️⃣ Heat sesame oil in a clay pot, fry ginger until fragrant and slightly browned
3️⃣ Add Shaoxing w**e and let it bubble until almost evaporated
4️⃣ Pour in sweet vinegar and water, bring to a boil. Taste and adjust with sugar or salt
5️⃣ Add pork belly, simmer on low heat covered for 30- mins until tender
6️⃣ Turn off heat, stir in the eggs and let them steep for at least 30 mins before serving

Tips 👇
✨ Keep the skin on- that’s where all the collagen and richness comes from
✨ Traditional trotters need 2-3 hours to break down. Pork belly cuts that down to 30-45 mins, so don‘t over-simmer or the fat melts off and the meat goes dry and stringy
✨ Let the eggs steep off the heat- they soak up all that sweet vinegar flavour without overcooking

Hi!!! Or maybe bye…? 👋

Either way, that’s okay ✨ we know we’re not for everyone.
First things first: if you don’t like food… you probably shouldn’t be here. 🥬🥩

Quan Shui's been a proud local wet market business since 1968, so expect plenty of recipes, cooking inspo, food hacks and ideas for your next meal. Follow along here (or visit our website) for more.

But you should probably unfollow us if you also don’t like…

🥩 Having your groceries your way
With 50+ years of wet market experience behind us, we’re happy to help customize to your cooking needs. Need a specific cut or portion? Not sure what to get for the dish you’re making? No worries, just ask~

🚚 Knowing when your groceries are coming
Website orders come with a tracking link and a shorter, two-hour ETA window — fewer “eh, when arriving ah?” moments.

❄️ Us taking freshness seriously
Fresh goods are generally sourced and prepared on delivery mornings, while fresh and frozen items are vacuum sealed and packed with cooler boxes and ice packs to help keep them in good condition through the delivery day

💬 Actually hearing from your grocer
Questions, feedback or something you want us to know about your order? Tell us! We even check in after deliveries because good service shouldn’t end at checkout

But if all this sounds like your thing, you should probably stick around and see what more we have to offer 👀

Tired of the same old flavours? 🍝

Sometimes we make a little too much sauce and end up eating the same flavours every day. So here’s the trick: portion, freeze, mix and match to create whatever pasta flavour you’re craving that day!

🤍 Alfredo Sauce
- ½ cup butter
- 225g cream cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 170g grated Parmigiano Reggiano
- ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper

🍅 Tomato Sauce
- 900g tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil, or as needed
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- Salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano

🌹 Rosé Sauce
Mix Alfredo and tomato sauce in a 1:1 ratio. That’s it!

We’re using Twirlee’s Fresh Mafalde Pasta, available via our link in bio, featuring Cheeselads Singapore cheeses: Parmigiano Reggiano and Belper Knolle to turn a simple pasta dish into restaurant-quality food at home. 🧀✨

❗ Quick tip: Frozen raw or seasoned meat is best consumed within 3 months for the best texture and flavour. Once defrosted, avoid refreezing as it can affect food safety and quality.

Save this for your next pasta night! 🍝

Behind the scenes of our exclusive Mee Hoon Kueh release 🍜 ✨

We teamed up with Twirlee Noodles to create something we're really proud of: a tailored noodle that brings Twirlee's craftsmanship together with Quan Shui's vision for everyday comfort. Simple, comforting, with just the right bite — made for everyday meals.

Introducing:
🥢 QS × Twirlee Hand-Pulled Mee Hoon Kueh

We tested four different thicknesses before landing on this one — the best balance of softness and chew, slightly thicker (though some of us think it could've gone thicker still 👀), just the way we all liked it. And it cooks in just 3 minutes.

Two teams, one shared love for local food heritage. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we loved making it 🤍
