A co-owner of The Wild Irishman w**ery is no other than the esteemed Alan Brady. Alan is attributed as the founder of what is now Central Otago and is known around the world for it. His recognition of the area's potential lead to the planting of Gibbston Valley W**ery with the oldest pinot vines in the region...

His retirement plans led naturally to starting up another w**ery - resulting in Wild Irishman. This venture is now co-owned by Alan and Brian Shaw.

This pitch is festooned with statistics that are ground-breaking, not least of which are their ratings for this vintage releases. It appluads the brand's evolution from Alan's personal passion project to now being part of the Big League as a serious producer with their inclusion in the Top 20 W**eries of New Zealand for 2025 by The Real Review.

There are detailed notes in each listings but of this there is no doubt. Selecting just one from these w**es is a herculean task as there is very little out of place amongst any of them. In fact - they represent a fascinating body of work purely reflecting different sites made by the same dynamic duo. I have a feeling that this is just the beginning ...

Distressed China W**e Offer - Penley Est. "Eos" Cab/Shiraz 2022 (JH 96) @ $55 - Cellar Door A$100 ...

The backstory to Penley Estate reads like a tele-novella of the finest order. Two of the most famous families in Australian w**e - the Tolleys and Penfolds got together over a late night encounter and some time later - Penley Estate (Coonawarra) was born...

That was back in 1988 and in 2015 - sisters Ang and Bec Tolley took over the whole shebang and the sisters have been hitting it out of the park ever since...

Whilst I am not prepared to bet that the double tattoo sleeved person above wearing his Levis just right are neither of the two owners - I am prepared to bet that this five star w**ery for ten years in a row will continue to throw out the finest of Coonawarra reds for many years to come - all under the brilliant stewardship of w**emaker Kate Goodman.

Kate is one of Australia's best contemporary w**emakers. W**eries such as Wirra Wirra (McLaren Vale), Tim Knappstein (Clare Valley), Seppelt (Great Western), Punt Road (Yarra Valley) have all benefitted from Kate's brilliance over the years and I have no doubt that the future of Penley is in safe hands...

We have two labels from Penley here below - I cant wait to get a handle on the Grenache from McLaren Vale fruit - the vines having been tended by the famous David Paxton...

Enough name dropping I guess - its time to get this tele-novella on the road because we dont know if there is going to be a new season under this super discounted platform...

Riversdale Estate not only sits on some of the bujjiest soil on Coal River, Australia, but is further distinguished by the fact that the vines are fronted by the Riversdale waterrfront, which acts as a buffer against frost and also moderates the climate during the ripening phase.

They produce 37 hectares of grapes - something of significant size relative to much of the region. They also own one of the largest olive groves in the country. This - along with a five star hotel and all the accompanying accoutrements combine together to what is surely one of the most picture perfect setups around.

They recently opened a new w**ery fitted with French Pellenc equipment, including an optical grape sorter and smart press, which makes Riversdale Estate the only w**ery in Australia to harness the full suite of the technology, which is used in many of the leading w**eries of Bordeaux.

As the outdated and not very woke saying goes - "Happy Wife - Happy Life" - so does it go for the growing of grapes. Provide a setting of harmony and beauty, give them the very best support and you really are looking for the slice of bread to land with the jam side up...

Riversdale produces a broad range of six different labels but it their Pinot and Chardonnay thats rattling the chains of consumers and B to C w**e cellars everywhere.

Anybody who dabbles in these two Tasmanian varietals will already know how much it costs to play - especially when it starts to knock over decent ratings from the Melbourne side of the Tasman. The value proposition offered here today is sensational and rare.

I feel certain that given the value proposition of these w**es, Riversdale will be ruffling a few feathers amongst their neighbours at the next Harvest Ball, but them's the breaks when the odds are lined up so well in ones favour...

Join us for a relaxed digital sit-down with Agramonth Head of Global Exports - David Martinez Gomez. Agramont forms part of The Príncipe de Viana group - which was founded in 1983 as a joint venture between the Navarra government and local private investors.

The w**ery brought in "flying w**emakers" such as Nick Butler to make modern, fruit-forward w**es for younger international drinkers. Agramont was a big success and is exported across Europe, which was almost unheard of for a Spanish co-op at the time.

Like so many great w**e people - David , started out as a somellier in Sitges, Barcelona - honing his marketing craft and then moving onto teaching with a specialty towards development of next generation, younger drinkers - a demographic segment of which I have assured him we are card carrying members or at very least - spiritually aligned ...

We will decant and pour the w**es (125ml each), seal under argon gas and have available for your collection from noon on Thursday 22nd October around noon. You can elect to have delivery that day ahead of the tasting in the evening for $15 if you wish.

The argon will assure premium drinking quality for up to three weeks, so if you are unfairly distracted by less interesting tasks, you are free to taste at your leisure along with the taped recording of the tasting which will be sent to all participants afterwards.

Attendees will be gifted with their order a free bottle of any Agramont w**es tasted on the night. It will go along with their next order.
