This Monday, our vineyard team headed out to the Stelling Vineyard at the Far Niente Estate in Oakville to continue the regeneration of specific vineyard blocks.

The trellising work consists of creating an infrastructure of wires and posts to better support and direct the canopy of our grapevines to maximize exposure to sunlight. Ensuring our grapevines receive optimal sunlight helps promote vine health and optimize grape development for superb aromas and flavors in our wine.

This Monday, after aging nearly three years in new French oak and a selective blending process, the 2019 vintage Dolce finally made its journey into the bottle. Only the best lots make it into the master blend, which ultimately makes it into the bottle where it will age until release.

We are honoured to announce that our Howard Park Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon is one of only six Cabernet Sauvignon wines in Australia to have been awarded Three Merits in The Real Review Wine Classification of Australia.

The classification comprises the greatest wines of Australia and New Zealand with an outstanding track record of a decade or longer, with fewer than 0.5% of wines produced achieving a Three Merit tier.

Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon was the first wine that Howard Park made in 1986 and remains our flagship wine to this day. It is expertly crafted from a blend of the best fruit produced at our Leston vineyard in Margaret River and from the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon block in the Great Southern, which is grown on the gentle slopes of our prized Abercrombie vineyard in Mount Barker.

To us, this wine not only represents the best of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon but a winemaking journey that spans more than three decades. One of vision, meticulous viticulture, uncompromising commitment to quality, and excellence in winemaking. The Burch family and the Howard Park team are deeply grateful to have this journey recognised.
