You’ve stepped into the minds of different artists at 𝘚𝘈𝘓𝘖𝘕. Now, it’s your chance to step into the mind of co-facilitator and thinker-in-residence, Zachary Ho.

In his article, Zach reflects on what happens when we enter into the processes of other artists. How their practices can unravel our assumptions, open up new curiosities, and shift the ways we understand the world around us.

Take a look into Zach’s brain and read his Substack article: https://zacharyho.substack.com/p/my-year-as-a-thinker-in-residence . And if you’re still curious, join us for our final 2 SALON sessions (details below)!

Grace Song is a Singaporean multidisciplinary artist and writer-director whose work spans film, movement, and experimental media.

Her practice often explores themes of memory, identity, and the uncanny through an evocative, personal lens. Sensitive and sculptural, she intertwines sensory perception, temporal dislocation, and neurodivergent consciousness with non-linearity, creating works that intersect poetic abstraction and neurological anthropology.

Her most recent work, 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘖𝘧 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 made its premiere at Singapore Int'l Film Festival 2025, and has been screened at the Leiden international short film festival, Arkipel - Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival, and won the Kodak Film Award at Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg 2026.

Practice Tuckshop is headed for Hong Kong! 🇭🇰

We’re super honoured to be invited to this year’s Hong Kong Culture and Sustainability Conference (Hong Kong Culture and Sustainability Centre 香港文化與可持續發展中心 ), where guniangs Xiao Ting and Joey will be repping us with a workshop titled: Mapping Contexts — Practice Tuckshop.

The workshop is fully subscribed, but check out the rest of the conference here: https://www.cusunetwork.com/

𝗠𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗦: 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽

How can a team build its own ecosystem while the blueprint is still taking shape? How can it continue to develop its practice and experience while creating and producing work? And when sustainability is not merely an idea, but part of everyday practice, what new possibilities can emerge for making, collaborating and gathering?

Ang Xiao Ting, artist and programmer, and Joey Cheng, producer – two core members of Practice Tuckshop, an independent creative space and brand in Singapore – will lead an interactive work session that invites participants to envision the city as a canvas: what happens when sustainability becomes a lived practice? Through sharing, Q&A, a work session and reflective exchange, participants will use Practice Tuckshop’s experience as a case study to unpack how to keep adjusting the “blueprint” while figuring things out, and connect others’ experiences with the realities of their own work.

Practice Tuckshop is not only a key initiative of The Theatre Practice (Practice), Singapore’s long-established professional bilingual theatre company, but also a creative playground built by the team behind it. Through the work of its artists, Practice continues to evolve as a lasting artistic space in Singapore, actively nurturing and inspiring public engagement with human-centred issues. In this space for continual experimentation and rule-breaking, the team – affectionately known as the Tuckshop Guniangs – moves beyond conventional roles and frameworks to curate unexpected intersections, collaborate with artists and communities, and explore more sustainable ways of making and gathering.

After two years, Kai’s residency at Practice Tuckshop will be coming to an end!

His pop-up Kai’s | 凯 · 味’s last day at our space will be on 27 Nov 2026 — so you’ve got two months left to sample his culinary creations 🍽

We're expecting busy nights leading up to closing and Kai's is a one-man team, so save his sanity (and secure yourself a table) by DMing for reservations

With almost 90 sessions of 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 under our belt, it's time to take a trip down memory lane to revisit some of our favourite sessions.

#3: TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE

Nowhere is it more apparent how food can be a vehicle for family history and an expression of love and care than in our yearly 'mother-daughter' sessions! Here are some dynamic duos we've hosted in our Recess Time kitchen!

RT #69: In preparation for Olivia's next chapter as a university student, what better way to build independence than learning how to feed yourself! Olivia and her mother, Jian Hong, showcase their recent kitchen experiments — fast, nutritious and affordable on a student's budget. Our favourite is "Same Jiu Cai, Different He Zi" (same filling, different pocket!) — their family recipe for Chinese chive dumplings.

RT #83: "𝘈𝘮𝘮𝘶 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘨𝘰" — Dimitra, from her IG essay 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘜𝘯𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨. Presenting three family recipes, Dimitra and her mother Angura gave us a taste of the complexities and stories behind Bangladeshi food: a cuisine shaped by conquest, famine, travel across generations and seas.

RT #62: Since Phoebe is vegetarian and currently lives abroad, Suat Kheam makes it a point to cook her daughter's favourite dishes whenever she's home (think punchy flavours like rendang, achar, bo bo cha cha, adapted to include their ugly produce haul, which they gathered during a food rescue session).

—— Dimitra 在她的 Instagram 文章《Acts of Eating, Feeding, Desiring and Unravelling》中这样写道。

Tuckshop Tidbit # 8: Melon Garden Mural 🍉

If you have been to Tuckshop, you will definitely remember our iconic Melon Garden mural.

It was painted in 2020 for the set of Practice's production 𝘍𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘏𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘢𝘥, which uncovered the history and lost stories of Waterloo Street. The original mural was at the Melon Garden Night Club, located at the Victoria Building in the 1980. Thanks to its risqué nature, it was fondly (and vividly) remembered by many students in the area 🙊

While no images of the original could be found, those memories were used as inspiration for illustrator to reimagine a new mural. And so, the Melon Garden girls were brought back to life!

Today, the three women are the backdrop to countless Practice Tuckshop programmes and gatherings, bearing witness to new memories and stories, and carrying a little piece of Waterloo Street’s history into the future.

With almost 90 sessions of 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 under our belt, it’s time to take a trip down memory lane to revisit some of our favourite sessions.

# 2: YES, CHEF!!

While we've hosted many professional chefs, here's a special shoutout to the original trio — Priscill, Imran and Mazlan — who taught us the ropes of cooking commercially back in 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦's early days. (The Golden Rule: always keep your work station CLEAN AND ORGANISED.)

All three have helmed multiple RTs (and sous-cheffed for each other!), so here are some of our favourite memories:

RT # 31: Chef Imran () turned a Covid-era passion project into a celebrated handmade-pasta practice — his intricately patterned raviolis and farfalles have gone viral, and we were lucky enough to sample them all the way back in 2021.

RT # 34: Chef Mazlan () always serves up delicious flavours, but this session was especially sweet not just because of his “Oranges Three Ways” dessert, but because he was joined by his son in the kitchen! Fun fact: Chef Mazlan was also the mentor of a very familiar face…

RT # 86: Chef Priscill! With five 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 sessions under her belt, needs no introduction. An avid food rescuer (and long-time 𝘗𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘱-𝘜𝘱 facilitator), her menus are a showcase of how delicious ugly produce can be! Best example? Her famous veggie Hokkien Mee, made with veggie scrap stock (recipe in the RT Journal!)

Imran()

Mazlan()
