For pests such as fruit flies and fruit moths, visible damage may appear only after eggs have hatched and larvae have begun feeding inside the fruit or plant tissue. Monitoring adult activity can provide an earlier indication of changing pest pressure, giving farm teams more time to assess field conditions and determine whether intervention is required.

Technology creates value only when farmers can confidently use it in the field.

Under the VietFruitRise project, RYNAN Technologies has completed the installation of two InSentinel® smart insect monitoring stations in key fruit-growing areas of D**g Thap and An Giang, Vietnam.

Alongside the installations, our team conducted practical training for farmers, cooperatives and local agricultural officials, covering:

• InSentinel® system operation and equipment checks
• Insect data monitoring and analysis through the central SaaS platform
• Real-time insect counts and alerts through the RYNAN® Mekong app
• Field validation at Mr Ba Hau’s mango orchard

By combining automated insect monitoring with farmers’ field experience, the project provides growers with clearer visibility of insect population changes. This supports earlier, more informed pest-management decisions and can help reduce unnecessary routine spraying.

The installations mark another step towards strengthening digital adoption and supporting more sustainable fruit production across the Mekong Delta.

One insect monitoring station shows what’s happening in a field. But what if you had a whole network of them?

There are roughly 132 RYNAN InSentinel stations planted across Vietnam's Mekong Delta. Each station is able to capture insects, identify, count and track changes in population and all these are being monitored in real time.

Through the RYNAN VDAPES platform, data from multiple stations comes together to create a wider agricultural intelligence network, providing greater visibility into pest activity and potential movement patterns across regions.
