Never thought that our mooncakes will one day be presented in the Istana 🥹
Preserving this tradition and our family’s story has always been the greatest motivation yet challenge. In this day and age, comparing to western bakes, traditional pastries are often seen as something good to have but not worth spending on if the price isn’t right. This is also one of the reasons why traditional pastries are often not given the same attention when it comes to quality and R&D. At the end of the day, to remain sustainable, the pastries need to bring returns. Without which, they slowly decline.. I’ve always maintained that it is not our goal to grow big but to grow sustainably, to be able to sustain our family while maintaining this tradition.
Tradition becomes history if we don’t do something different and intentional to preserve it. Bringing the new school to the old school through innovation was the plan. This plan met with lots of criticism and even opposition but it worked. The noise will continue and when it comes to food, we understand it’s subjective. Which is why above all, we value those who supported us and continued supporting us. Seeing so many of you returning for our bakes is our greatest achievement. And to those whom we failed to meet your expectations, we appreciate your feedback and will continue to work on them, hoping that one day you will give us another try.
In our 50th year, this mid-autumn has been a milestone for us, one that reminded us how far we’ve come, how lucky and blessed we are. Thank you for being part of it 🙏🏾🫶🏽
