🚀⚙️ NORTHSTARS IN ACTION: BUILD. CODE. CREATE. ⚙️🚀

🤖 Our *Northstars are turning ideas into action!* 🎬💡

As part of *Northland Secondary School’s Applied Learning Programme (ALP)*, three of our budding innovators had spent their weekend at the *Trident-X Buildathon – Training Stage*, held at the *Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)* on *15 & 16 August 2026*.

🌟 *Meet our Northstars!* 🌟
🔹 *Yoochan* from 3-Antares
🔹 *Cody* from 3-Antares
🔹 *Zoshi* from 2-Epsilon

From *8.00am to 6.00pm* across both days, our Northstars are immersed in hands-on training — *building, experimenting, problem-solving, collaborating and putting their creativity to the test!* 🛠️⚙️

But this is only the 🔥*training stage*. 🔥

Every challenge attempted, every idea tested and every problem solved is preparing the team for the *Trident-X Buildathon* , taking place from 10–13 November 2026.

More than simply preparing for a competition, experiences like these allow our students to develop the confidence to think critically, innovate boldly, collaborate effectively and persevere when solutions do not come easily -bringing the spirit of Northland’s ALP beyond the classroom and into authentic, real-world learning. 💡🌏

👏 Go, Yoochan, Cody and Zoshi ! 👏

We are proud to see our Northstars stepping forward, getting their hands busy and their minds working as they *BUILD, CODE, CREATE and INNOVATE!* 🚀

Celebrating 🇸🇬 SG61: Going Beyond Yishun with Pipes, Drums & Pride! 🥁🎶

On 15 August, NSS Pipe Band ventured beyond Yishun to join 2,500 residents and guests at the Bishan East–Sin Ming National Day Dinner 2026, celebrating Singapore’s 61st birthday through music and community spirit! ❤️🤍

Our Pipe Band had the honour of leading the Welcome March-In for the Guest of Honour, Ms Elysa Chen, Adviser to Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC Grassroots Organisations, filling the celebration grounds with the distinctive sounds of the bagpipes and drums. The band later took to the stage to present a spirited repertoire of Pipe Band classics and National Day favourites, adding to the festive atmosphere of the evening. 🎶🥁

Through their music, our Pipe Band demonstrated the discipline, teamwork, resilience and pride that define our Northstars, while contributing to the celebration of our nation’s birthday. 🌟

We are grateful to the Bishan East–Sin Ming Grassroots Organisations for the warm invitation and for giving our Pipe Band this wonderful opportunity to share our music with the wider community. 🎼

From Yishun to Bishan, our Pipe Band continues to step confidently onto new stages, perform with pride, and make every beat count! 🇸🇬🥁❤️

*NORTHLAND WUSHU TAKES THE NATIONAL DAY STAGE! 🔥

🇸🇬🥋 *MEET OUR NSS WUSHU WARRIORS!* 🥋🇸🇬

This National Day, our *Team Wushu warriors* had the honour of taking the stage at the *Nee Soon East National Day Dinner @ Blk 293*, bringing their energy, discipline and fighting spirit to the heart of our community! ❤️🤍

More than just a performance, it was an opportunity for our students to step forward with confidence, represent Northland Secondary School proudly and share the beauty and strength of Wushu with residents and members of the community.

Behind every stance, kick, weapon routine and synchronised movement were countless hours of training, perseverance, teamwork and commitment 💪🏼🔥

And now… introducing our very own *Northland Wushu warriors* — Northstars who dare to step onto the stage, support one another and give their very best for the community! 🥋✨

We are especially proud of the way they carried themselves — not only as performers, but as teammates who encouraged, supported and looked out for one another throughout the entire experience.

Because *Team Wushu is more than a CCA*

It is about discipline.
It is about resilience.
It is about camaraderie.
It is about family. ❤️

Thank you *Nee Soon East* CC for giving our young Wushu athletes this wonderful opportunity to contribute to our National Day celebrations and connect with the community through their passion. 🇸🇬

🥋*Strong in spirit. United as one. Proudly Team Wushu.* 🔥

📚🎭 *FROM PAGE TO STAGE: WHEN LITERATURE COMES ALIVE !* 🎭📚

Who says Literature belongs only between the pages of a book? 😉

Our *English Language Department (Literature Unit)* took our *Secondary 3 and Secondary 4 Literature students* beyond the classroom for an exciting Learning Journey to *The Play Den @ The Arts House*, where they watched a live theatrical production of *Everything But The Brain* by Jean Tay — the very text our students are studying for their *GCE O-Level Literature examination!* 🔥

And what an experience it was! 🤩

For our students, familiar characters were no longer simply names on a page. *Elaine, Father, Dr Sam and the Chorus came alive before their eyes* — through movement, voice, expression, staging, lighting and dramatic tension. 🎭✨

Suddenly, the literary and dramatic techniques discussed in class became *visible, audible and real*.

💡 *Why did the director stage the scene this way?*
💡 *How did the actors bring out the complexities of the characters?*
💡 *How did lighting, sound, movement and silence shape the audience's emotions?*
💡 *How might seeing the play deepen our interpretation of the text?*

This is *Literature learning in action* — moving beyond simply knowing the text to *experiencing, questioning, analysing and appreciating it as a work of theatre.* ❤️

And of course, behind every meaningful Learning Journey is a team of passionate Literature teachers who believes that the best learning does not always happen behind a desk. Our *Literature Unit* continues to create authentic and memorable experiences that challenge our students to *think deeply, respond critically and see literature through new perspectives.* 💪🏼📖

To our amazing *Sec 3 and Sec 4 Literature students* — continue to read closely, question boldly, discuss passionately and discover the power of words and stories.

Because in Literature, we don't just *study* stories.

*We step into them.*
*We experience them.*
*We make them come alive.* 🎭🔥

✨ *An Extra•Ordinary Celebration 2026: Legacy of Love* ✨

It was an incredible honour for the Northland Secondary School Pipe Band to lead the Welcome March-In for our Guest of Honour, Mdm Halimah Yacob, at An Extra•Ordinary Celebration 2026: Legacy of Love. We were especially privileged to be invited to participate in this meaningful celebration for the second consecutive year, a testament to the strong partnership built through music, inclusion and community.

As the stirring sounds of the bagpipes and drums echoed through the Mediacorp Theatre, our students proudly represented the school with confidence, discipline and professionalism, setting the stage for an inspiring evening of celebration.

Adding to this special occasion, our Pipe Band Snare Drummers also had the privilege of opening Act 3 – The Unexpected Gift of Collaboration with Entry of the Gladiators, performing alongside students from APSN Tanglin School in a segment choreographed by Mr Ewan Rashid. Their performance beautifully illustrated how music can bridge differences, foster friendships and bring people together through teamwork and a shared passion for the performing arts.

The evening was made even more memorable with the energy and warmth of Mr Najib Ali, the Creative Director and Show Host of the concert, as well as the captivating performances by guest artist Mr Nathan Hartono and students from both mainstream and special education schools, whose performances embodied the spirit of inclusion and celebration.

It was a privilege to be part of a concert that celebrated the power of inclusion, collaboration and the performing arts, bringing together students from mainstream and special education schools in a meaningful showcase of talent, unity and mutual respect.

These performances reflect the countless hours of dedication, resilience and teamwork invested by every member of the band. We are immensely proud of our students for rising to the occasion, performing with excellence and representing Northland Secondary School with pride.

A heartfelt thank you to Extra•Ordinary People, our school leaders, teachers, instructors, parents and everyone who encouraged and supported our students
