𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲
一碗虾面
I first encountered this couple’s cooking three years ago at The Milky Way Café in Tanglin Halt (you can read about my experience here - https://www.facebook.com/share/171PDBza8N/?mibextid=wwXIfr).

Their food back then already showed promise — so when I heard about this new venture The Prawn Story, I made a mental note to visit. I finally did today, and I must say it was well worth the wait.

There’s a lot going for their version of prawn noodles which I liked:
✅ The thick, robust soup which carried a rich red sheen — that beautiful gloss of prawn oil hinting at hours of careful simmering.
✅ The pork ribs had a nice layer of fat and were fall-off-the-bone tender, thanks to their choice of soft ribs.
✅ The freshly-fried, crunchy pork lard which, when combined with their shallot oil, formed an addictive & lethal combination
✅ And don’t forget to add on the leek fish cake ($1.50) — juicy, bouncy, and flavourful, adding a lovely twist to the bowl.

If there’s a c***k in the armour, it is perhaps that the large prawns weren’t available on the day.

Nevertheless, it’s great to see this couple still cooking with heart, now in a humbler setting but no less determined to serve up something special.

We will not bully people and we will not let other bully us.

People in Ghim Moh know us. We even bring food over to elderly, people with injuries or trouble carry the tray.

For the a tall man who is almost twice the size of my wife and expected her to move the trays for him.

I am sorry, we are not obligated to do so.

Customer is not always right, moreover you did not patronise us.
