💡 3 Golden Rules for Helping Seniors Pick "Real" Healthy Food:
To save you from paying a "marketing tax" (wasting money on marketing gimmicks), here is what to look for next time you shop:
1. Check the "First" Ingredient:
If you are buying organic whole wheat bread, the very first ingredient on the list must be "organic whole wheat flour." If regular wheat flour is listed first, just walk away.
2. Check the Frequency of the Word "Organic":
For truly organic products, the word "organic" should be individually labeled in front of almost all major ingredients (e.g., organic flour, organic vegetable oil, organic sugar). If only one or two minor ingredients at the bottom of the list are organic, they are just using it as a marketing gimmick.
3. Check the Ingredients list:
If the top ingredients are mostly various additives, vegetable oils, or refined sugar, it cannot be considered a truly healthy food—even if it carries an organic label.
