It’s not a Bangkok trip without Thong Smith 👀

Whether it is the first meal or the last meal, Thong Smith has somehow become one of those must-eat spots whenever I’m in Bangkok.

Yes, you have probably seen countless posts about their boat noodles by now, so I probably don’t need to convince you too much.

But for me, the usual order is always the same — boat noodles with sliced beef and beef balls. The broth is rich, comforting and full of flavour, while the beef and beef balls make it extra satisfying. And to complete the meal, it has to be paired with their chrysanthemum slushie.

Nothing too complicated, just a reliable Bangkok food ritual that I always end up going back for.

Is Thong Smith also on your Bangkok must-eat list?

LStill one of Bangkok’s more reliable cafe options 👀

If you’re looking for a cafe in Bangkok for coffee, brunch or an easy group meal, Roast remains one of those longstanding names that many people still go back to.

The menu has plenty of familiar favourites, from big breakfast plates to pancakes and pastas.

For me, the Truffle Alfredo has always been the must-order here.

Creamy, comforting and usually the dish I look forward to most — though to be honest, it felt slightly more underwhelming this time compared to what I remembered.

Still, Roast continues to be a dependable cafe option if you want somewhere with a comfortable setting, decent variety and brunch dishes that are easy to share.

Not necessarily the most exciting cafe in Bangkok now, but still a reliable one to keep on your list.

Would you still revisit an old favourite even if the standard feels different?

Song Wat might be Bangkok’s hottest street right now 👀

If you’re exploring Song Wat, the area is packed with coffee houses, hipster fashion spots and lifestyle stores — but one food stop worth adding to your list is SongViet.

They do a modern take on Vietnamese street food, with dishes that feel familiar but slightly more elevated.

The Dry Chicken Pho was decent, with a little spicy kick to keep things interesting.

But the real showstopper was the Grilled Pork Banh Mi. The pork collar was spicy, tender and full of flavour, while the pickled vegetables helped balance out the richness. Just don’t compare it directly to the prices you’d normally get in Vietnam — this is a more modernised, Bangkok-style take on banh mi.

If you’re planning a Song Wat day out, this is an easy place to grab a bite between coffee stops.

Would you go for pho or banh mi first?

A Bangkok pad thai spot that still feels like a hidden gem 👀

Compared to its sister brand Phed Mark, Thep PadThai seems to fly a little more under the radar — but this is one to save if you’re planning where to eat in Bangkok.

The concept is simple: choose your filling, choose your spice level, and everything comes with their modern take on pad thai.

Flavour-wise, this leans a little sweeter than the usual pad thai, but what stood out was the generous use of tiny shrimp that added so much flavour to the noodles.

At first glance, it is definitely pricier than the usual street-side pad thai, but the portion does help justify it.

We tried the original with no spice, and the pork crackling version at 1 chilli.

My advice? Go for at least 1 chilli — that little spicy kick makes it much more satisfying.

Save this for your next Bangkok trip before the queue gets too crazy.

Would you go original or pork crackling first?

German food, but make it Asian-inspired 👀

Brotzeit is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a limited-time menu from 23 June to 26 August, and the dishes are inspired by bold Asian flavours.

My top pick was the Mala Bratwurst — still giving that satisfying sausage snap, but with mala spice worked into the pork filling.

The signature pork knuckle also gets a twist as the mala-marinated Asiatische Schweinshaxn, served with rice, cucumber salad and mapo tofu in a tingkat.

Other fun dishes include Salted Egg Chicken Schnitzel, Lobster Laksa Spätzle, Beef Rendang Goulash, and a vegetarian spinach dumpling with Sichuan mapo sauce.

Dessert-wise, the Apple Pandan Kaya Strudel was the one that got me — very kaya toast-coded, but in strudel form.

Which one sounds the most chaotic-good to you?

Touristy? Maybe. Still good? Also yes 👀

YY Kafei Dian has long been one of those “must-visit” breakfast spots in Singapore, especially for tourists looking for kaya toast, kopi and old-school local breakfast.

And while you’ll probably see tour groups coming through its doors, this place still manages to keep its charm.

More importantly, the food still holds up.

The kaya butter toast remains one of the signatures here, made with bread that they bake in-house. Thick, fluffy and best eaten with that slab of butter and kaya in between.

The sugared doughnuts are another classic — simple, nostalgic and best paired with kopi or teh.

It may be popular with tourists, but this is one of those places that still feels very much like an old-school Singapore breakfast spot.

Would you go for kaya toast or doughnuts first?

Soccer fever, but make it hotpot 👀

Haidilao Singapore has launched a limited-time soccer-themed dining experience, available till 19 July.

There are two set meals to choose from — the Goal Moment Set and Victory Moment Set. We went for the Victory Moment Set, priced at $88.80++, which comes with two soup bases and a generous spread of hotpot ingredients.

Think meatballs, signature hotpot dishes, vegetables and more — basically everything you need for a proper Haidilao meal while watching the soccer excitement unfold.

The set also comes with a mini crossbody bag, which makes it feel like a fun little bonus on top of the meal.

If you’re looking for a group dining idea, late-night supper plan or just a value-for-money hotpot set in Singapore, this is one to check out before the promo ends.

Would you go for the Goal Moment Set or Victory Moment Set?

Wagyu beef tongue handroll at RAPPU Singapore? 👀

RAPPU’s June specials are only available for a few more days, and this might be one of their best monthly specials yet.

The spotlight is on wagyu beef tongue, served two ways — as a wagyu beef tongue handroll and grilled beef tongue izakaya-style.

Best tip: eat it fast once it’s served. That’s when you get the tender bite of the gyutan, glazed with a sweet-savoury yakiniku sauce and finished with mustard seeds and Japanese leek.

But the real genius move? The fried garlic chips. They add crunch, aroma and another layer of flavour that makes the handroll even more addictive.

For lunch, RAPPU also has its signature handroll set, now available in 4 rolls if you want something lighter. There’s also the lunch-only Akami-Toro Rice Bowl, topped with finely chopped tuna.

A solid Japanese handroll bar in Singapore to catch before the June special ends.

Would you go for the beef tongue handroll or grilled beef tongue first?

Craving Malaysian food in Singapore? EatAlley is getting a refresh 👀

For 2026, EatAlley now houses a refreshed lineup of stalls featuring iconic food from Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Penang.

You’ll still find familiar favourites like my go-to berempah nasi lemak and Uncle Beh Pork Noodles.

But there are also new additions worth checking out.

The Awesome Char Koay Teow comes topped with a sunny side up, adding extra richness to the wok hei-packed noodles.

There’s also Penang Road Laksa from Chan Ping Kopitiam in Malaysia, bringing that tangy, fish-based Penang-style laksa flavour.

If you’re craving something smoky and grilled, Petaling Street Grill Fish has options like grilled stingray with prawns.

Honestly, this feels like a one-stop spot when you’re craving Malaysian hawker food without crossing the border.

Would you go for char koay teow, nasi lemak or pork noodles first?

What to eat at Raffles City after work? 👀

Alice Boulangerie & Restaurant has launched a new menu, and it works well whether you’re planning dinner or just looking for a place to share starters and drinks after work.

My top pick was the Black Angus Ribeye — cooked nicely, with a side of whipped mashed potatoes that was rich, creamy and deeply savoury.

The Iberico Pork Chop had that sweet-savoury touch from the bacon maple jus, while the Vongole Squid Ink Spaghetti came with a generous portion of white clams.

For sharing, the starters are worth looking at too.

The Spiced Chicken Wings were excellent with cajun marinade and smoked BBQ glaze, while the Chargrilled Baby Octopus came with chorizo for extra heat and flavour.

A pretty solid spot if you’re looking for dinner or after-work drinks around Raffles City.

What would you order first — steak, pasta or wings?
