Pinot Noir 2012 by Slovak master winemaker Miroslav Petrech. Warm vintage wine, late harvest, quite some aging - typical see through brick red color with browning rims (aging), fading dry red berry fruit with hint of nail varnish on the nose, mostly tertial aromas throughout the palate, concentrated, still with solid grip, long aftertaste of bitter dry fruits. Still very good, but past its potential now. I would wonder what my Burgundy specialist friend Gabriel Angermaier would say.)

Simple natural ZEN-like refreshing charm - Pèt Nat 2021 by from Moravia, cuvée of two red varieties St. Laurent & Zeigelt, visibly and sensibly made with short skin maceration bringing a shy nose in contrast to fun and immediate high acidic mouth filled with citrus attack twisted to grapefruit from mid palate onwards to sour / bitter medium plus aftertaste. For Pèt Nat the fizz is rather short and gentle, the impact is sharp and clean, making the wine a summer option well done. Perfect to pair with sun and creamy meals, or as an aperitif to backyard grill.

Old Cellar Saperavi Qvevri 2015 from the birthplace of wine - Georgia 🇬🇪 - brought by friend from Tbilisi. Not really a summer wine, however slightly chilled can give a real taste push, especially when properly swirled around gums - deep powerful aronia / to***co gridlock grip literally on the entire head, pulling your eyes inside. All thanks to special ancient wine making technique, long maceration in Georgian kvevri clay vessels. Impressive, still more suitable for winter time. There are winemakers in Slovakia who started experimenting with these winemaking techniques with some impressive results ( / )

2020 by - 100% Feteascã Alba, now very rare grape variety due to replanting for more fancy stuff in local Čajkov vineyards. The “wine-keeper” made the wine in 4 weeks skin maceration followed by 12 months barrel aging into this extracted, grippy fruit bomb😎 As expected with no finning or filtration, the wine is in it’s own category - clean nose of liquorice candy (even though totally dry), white flower and strawberry. The juicy acidity is pushed forward with not yet ripe mirabelle plum, cloves and firm skin contact sandpaper like grip, lingering on mineral, tangy aftertaste, long one. Definitely worth trying if you are lucky enough to get your palates on it as most of the bottles are now sold abroad. And what a label!

So I opened the youngest of the 3 Muzsla wines from first - vintage 2020, my tasting notes follow; simply put Timid nose vs. Big mouth - gentle haziness (no filter or finning), yellow/green color of blended Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc & Riesling, 6 days on skins together in “hamburger” style (layered by variety), matured in neutral wood. The nose is shy even the next day in a glass (my humble experiment) showing hints of white flowers, green apple and some white pepper. The developing is sensed after the first touch of the tongue - the young austerity (in positive way) is expressed through sharp citrusy acidity, a bucket of yellow/white fruits, bright green apple-ness developing smoothly to apple seed bitterness which continues from concentrated mid palate to persistent bitter mineral tail. Although young and crisp, it feels towards full body. I like it, my type of juice. Looking forward 2019 & 2018 waiting in the cellar, see how the horses are tamed.

Electric tongue tension dictated by 9yrs old Welschriesling with mature personality ***** created by the world famous Mr. Petrech from , vintage 2013, quite similar to his Rieslings (not from Wales), the main difference would be less oily texture and possibly more relaxed overall posture, same clarity and precision. ***** Nose is respectably complex and densely packed with ripe lemons, peeled ripe apricot skins, honey, hint of petroleum vaseline (yes, like Riesling but less), pine resin, hay…, one could go on here. ***** The mouth reveals the age more precisely, the fruit (green apple, lemon) are more in the background, preceeded by tertial flavours, however still dominated by the lovely piercing citrusy acidity, followed by salty citrus edge long aftertaste. Glad to open such a bottle, especially today ;)

Generous without being overt. “Spolu”(Together) 2018 by - finally something drinkable from Sväty Jur, with all due respect;) *** why - red/white blend of Welchriesling, Blaufränkisch, Müller T & Riesling made spontaneously to a serious, confident wine many scared won’t ever try to come close to. *** gentle haze is a must with unfiltered light red brick colored ones, the nose is of serious depth, layers of purple bompari candy, spicy plum, rubber hose, all the sweet berry fruit + hint of nutmeg, possibly walnut skins. *** the palate is clean & bright, sharp fruity acidity leads the taste experience to more intellectual than fun thought processing (but not too much). Great job Andrej.

“Ein Quantum Trinity”- none vintage - Funny, easy but mainly funky wine aus Österreich by - rosé made of field blend, mainly Blaufränkisch and Veltliner (so typical for former Habsburg monarchy states - the wine is of course hazy of light rose color, *** white pepper, citrus- grapefruit on the nose with pinch of bay leaf and a touch of nail varnish *** the mouth is light, lower alcohol (11,5), picant grapefruit bringing bitter/sour/tangy ballance followed by dry banana chips with spice on the tail, quite entertaining with its non-seriousness😆 bought - the guys say they have more.

Savagnin Ouillé Longefin 2018 by natural winemaker from Jura Diddier Grappe - definitelly not for all, but the curious, never satisfied free individuals in search of unique. *** green/yellow and HAZY look with nose of gently bruised green apples, probounced matches/gunpowder and sauerkraut on the nose *** The palate is overwhelming in its precision, sharpness and clarity. Layered with two main dimensions, first is bright citrusy, second is mentioned bruised apples all mixed in harmony. Umami flavours progress to long lasting saline aftertaste. *** The theory states that Savagnin could be mistaken for Albariño, to me its more like Furmint, even laid back Juhfark. Seems like a new favourite variety from Jura, the holy grail of the weird and beautiful (bought last bottle from - get me some more !!;)

Teenage life of Habsburg gueen Blaufränkisch - Case study by . *** Adam’s first wines out, uncomisingly no sulphites added, expecting wild yeast fermentation & no fruit/juice molestation. *** Blueish purple color hinting adolescence, full nose of immediate Blaufränkisch - young like just after fermentation, dusty cherry candy wrapped in leather. Fruitful mouth of leafy greeny blood tones sprinkled with black pepper. Structure is light and easy lingering through metallic (Fe) bloody finish, so varietally typical. Buy this wine for pleasure, or also if you want to know more on Blaufränkisch teenage life as part of ur wine study and your life in general.)
