SLBL’S SORGHUM INCENTIVE PROGRAM REWARDS FARMERS, STRENGTHENS LOCAL CONTENT
Sierra Leone Brewery Limited (SLBL), under Sierra Bottling Group (SBG), has successfully concluded its 2026 Sorghum Incentive Programme, celebrating and rewarding farmers for their outstanding contribution to local sorghum production and supply.
Held at the SLBL Supply Chain Academy, the event brought together farmers, Paramount Chiefs, the National Investment Board (NIB) and senior SLBL management. In his keynote, Managing Director Hennrey Du Plessis assured farmers that “SLBL is here to stay,” reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting farmers, maintaining a good price structure and strengthening the partnership despite the challenges facing both farmers and the business. The National Investment Board (NIB) commended SLBL for meeting domestic market demand and called for continued collaboration, while farmer representatives and the Paramount Chief of Bombali applauded the initiative and encouraged wider participation in sorghum cultivation.
Farmers received incentive cheques worth thousands of Leones, providing further motivation to return to their farms and work towards the next production target. The programme is helping to promote local content, create livelihoods and employment opportunities; particularly for women and youths - and keep more value within the Sierra Leonean economy.
Closing the event, Managing Director Hennrey Du Plessis said: “We are proud of what we are building together with our farmers. This is your success, our success and a success for Sierra Leone. Let us keep growing, keep supplying and keep moving forward together.”
