From generations of Gevrey-Chambertin tradition, Rossignol-Trapet carries one of Burgundy’s great family legacies into the biodynamic era.
The Rossignol and Trapet families have deep w**emaking roots. In 1961, Jacques Rossignol and his wife, Mado Trapet, daughter of Louis Trapet, joined Domaine Louis Trapet in Gevrey-Chambertin. After Louis Trapet’s retirement in 1990, Jacques and sons David and Nicolas founded Domaine Rossignol-Trapet. Today, the estate spans 14 hectares across Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and, most notably, Gevrey-Chambertin.
Committed to preserving terroir, the brothers converted the vineyards to biodynamic farming in 1997, with official certification from the 2008 vintage.
David and Nicolas pursue the balance that defines great Burgundy: structure and depth shaped by finesse, harmony and elegant tannins. Respecting tradition while embracing modern technical and biological approaches, they nurture each vintage to reveal purity and individual terroir. After vinification, the w**es mature patiently in the cellar, gaining complexity and depth. The domaine’s reputation rests on exceptional terroirs, generations of accumulated knowledge, craftsmanship and dedication.
In the cellar, their gentle, minimalist approach limits new oak, preserving fruit purity and vineyard identity. Natural ripeness and terroir-driven expression have earned widespread respect among Burgundy enthusiasts.
The portfolio traces Burgundy’s hierarchy: vibrant, elegant Bourgogne Rouge; deeper, more complex Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes from 50–85-year-old vines; and ultimately Chambertin Grand Cru, a collector’s w**e celebrated for concentration, structure and remarkable aging potential. Despite frost, hail and climate variability, Rossignol-Trapet remains committed to quality and sustainable farming.
Great Burgundy is not created in a generation. It is inherited, understood, and passed on.
