Foodinnovate Food for the Future: Regenerative Agri-Food System

FoodInnovate is a social enterprise whose main objective is to promote cultivation activities using the principles of agroecology in the central lowlands. We deliver solutions for future food systems from a holistic approach of sustainable bio-functional and techno-functional food ingredient manufacturing. We focus on the upstream side of organic raw materials grown in Thailand to commercialise th

e production of functional food ingredients. FoodInnovate also provides a field laboratory space of eight hectares, the BTLLAgroforestry farm, for education and training in agroecology for higher education with leading research institutes both domestically and abroad.

Discover how the Luang Prasit Community, BTLLAgroforestry and FoodInnovate are bringing a long‑lost freshwater swamp forest back to life in the Lower Chao Phraya Basin. Through ecological design, a nine‑layer agroforestry model, and satellite‑based carbon monitoring, this community is redefining climate adaptation in Thailand’s lowland floodplain. Read the full story in our latest post.

The Luang Prasit Community is restoring a long‑lost freshwater swamp forest in the Chao Phraya Basin through ecological landscape design, a nine‑layer agroforestry system, and satellite‑based carbo…

Decoding the Future of Plant Proteins from Winged Beans: Ep. 6/6 Healing Soil, Cutting Costs and Boosting Yields

Plant geneticists once doubted whether yams could be grown in clay soil like the lower central Chao Phraya basin. By naturally tilling and fertilising the soil, winged bean has delivered massive yields and slashed fertiliser costs. From these high-yield results to FoodInnovate’s organic seed donation in Lat Bua Luang Agricultural Office, we are proving that restoring soil health is the key to a sustainable, low-cost agricultural future....

I recently shared this with students at Kasetsart University during guest lectures for the Faculty of Agriculture and the School of Integrated Sciences.

From nitrogen fixation and N₂O mitigation to agroforestry design, partial AWD, and digital MRV, the winged bean helps us connect food science with climate action in a way that is both practical and deeply rooted in Thai landscapes.

Our 8‑ha TerraFlow sandbox in Ayutthaya continues to show how smallholder systems can meet high‑integrity standards without relying on futuristic technology. Sometimes, the most powerful climate solutions are the ones already growing in our own backyard.

Episode 5/6 is now live.

Think low-GI means safe? Think again. Glycemic Index doesn’t reveal the impact of fructose – in sucrose molecule known as table sugar, on your liver, insulin overload from sugary drinks, or long-term risks like fatty liver and uric acid. Glycemic Index (GI) alone doesn’t reflect true health risks. Low-GI foods can still burden the liver, insulin, and metabolism—especially with excess fructose or refined carbs. Liquid sugars in sweet drinks absorb faster. Choose whole foods, not just low-GI numbers. Health is systemic—don’t let just GI number mislead your choices.
