Customer service fell short today at the vegetarian restaurant.

One of the male staff members was dismissive and unhelpful — the kind of attitude that reminded me exactly why I had no desire to return to Thailand after my first visit 20 years ago.

That said, I ordered two curries with rice, and the massaman was absolutely delicious — rich, full of flavor, and not too spicy. It was the first meal here to truly exceed my expectations. I highly recommend it.

I’m glad that his attitude didn’t ruin the experience or turn me off completely.

20 years ago, when I first came to Thailand, I absolutely fell in love with the orange juice—made from tiny oranges, about the size of a small lime. So refreshing and naturally sweet!

Today, I finally had fresh orange juice again for the first time since arriving—and it brought back all the memories. Still just as delicious as I remembered. 🍊🇹🇭

Every morning, I enjoyed a delicious vegan breakfast as part of my booking. I’d go down at 10:20, just before breakfast ended at 10:30. The options were satisfying, and I appreciated what was available each day. The service was good, and although I had to use Google Translate to communicate at times, everything went smoothly and the staff were kind.

Currently on a United flight — and a quick tip for anyone with dietary restrictions or who’s vegan:

Since I booked this flight only a day before departure, I wasn’t able to select a vegan meal in advance. Thankfully, the crew kindly pulled together some vegan-friendly items from the first-class cabin to help out.

From experience, the best thing to do as soon as you board is to speak directly with a flight attendant and let them know about your special dietary needs. Double-check that your name is on the list for a special meal. I’ve had times when I ordered vegan meals weeks or months ahead but they weren’t allocated to my seat.

By letting the crew know early, they can find alternative vegan food options for you — sometimes even meals another passenger declined.

Moral of the story: always speak up early to avoid surprises at 30,000 feet!

Currently island hopping from Railay Beach in Krabi 🌴 Since it’s low season, everything is super affordable — which has definitely worked in my favor!

Food-wise, today’s highlight was the Thai curry with pumpkin. It was really delicious — rich, flavorful, and satisfying even without any protein. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and even people who aren’t vegan commented on how good it was. I’m definitely looking forward to having pumpkin Thai curry again in the future.

As for the rest:
– The noodles were far too sweet for my liking.
– The mushrooms were coated in batter and most likely dipped in egg, so I chose to skip them.
– I had some corn on the cob.
– The pineapple was okay, but I can’t stand melon — and unfortunately, every single island hopping tour seems to serve it because it’s cheap.
– The juice was concentrated, meaning it wasn’t fresh. But at least there was free water.
– The dessert cake wasn’t vegan, so I didn’t eat it — but I took it with me so I could give it to a homeless person who asked me for money.

That said, compared to my previous island hopping trips, the vegan options this time were much better — and that pumpkin Thai curry alone made it all worth it.

More updates soon from this low-season adventure 🌊🛶

This is the vegan version of the breakfast buffet.

The options were incredibly limited and repetitive—pretty much the same items every day. While the rice was filling and the baked beans offered some protein, there wasn’t much variety for plant-based eaters.

That said, because it’s low season, many hotels are offering 50–70% discounts, so the value for the price may still be worth considering.

Tried a vegan green Thai curry today with tofu and rice. The curry was definitely spicy, but unfortunately, it just didn’t hit the mark. The tofu had a really strange texture, there wasn’t enough sauce, and overall, the dish wasn’t particularly delicious.

I definitely wouldn’t go back to that restaurant for this meal—but I’d still be open to trying other dishes on the menu, especially since my plant-based options are limited where I am at the moment.

After having the same breakfast two days in a row and noticing they had vegetables and rice noodles, I decided to talk to reception. I requested that they prepare those two dishes without egg and oyster sauce.

I’ve stayed at hotels before where they veganized the entire buffet without any announcement, so I expected they might do the same here. In my opinion, no egg in the noodles and no oyster sauce in the veggies wouldn’t have hurt anyone.

Instead, they made me completely separate dishes from scratch. I ended up with so much food that I packed the leftovers in a takeaway container to have for dinner—saving me money and ensuring I got a proper meal!

Breakfast – Day 2. Very limited vegan options again. Plain rice, some baked beans (again), and mixed vegetables—but sadly, they were cooked in soy and oyster sauce.

They also had rice noodles and fried rice, but both contained egg.

So once again, I found myself sticking to the familiar dishes from the day before.

I found a spot selling vegan wraps made with tofu and soy meat. It didn’t look very hygienic, so I didn’t eat there—but it was good to know the option existed. I was excited to find it, even though I never ended up trying it.

Breakfast was included as part of my booking, but honestly, I would’ve preferred not to have it. I much prefer a lie-in and the freedom to eat wherever I like on the island.

This was my first day, and the vegan options were quite limited—baked beans, rice, corn on the cob, a bit of salad, toast with fruit jam (not homemade), guava, and juice made from concentrate.

It was something, but I’d rather explore and enjoy food on my own schedule.

Located directly across from Khao San Road, Vegan Pranakhon is easy to find and conveniently situated.

Unfortunately, they didn’t have the pandan dessert I was hoping for, which was disappointing.

The chicken satay was absolutely delicious — easily the highlight of the meal. Even though the price is high for what you get, I would return just for that. You really can’t go wrong with good satay.

The curry tofu main dish was spicy, but lacked flavor. Definitely not worth the price — I would’ve been better off just having the satay.

The mocktail was fine, but nothing special.

Service was good, and the place was quiet as I was the only guest at the time. One plus: no service charge added to the bill.

Overall, I’d go back for the satay alone — skip the rest.
