DID YOU KNOW? In just the last 50 years, more than 50% of the world’s original mangrove forests have disappeared — most of it cleared for coastal development or traditional aquaculture like shrimp farming. 😢

🇹🇭 Thailand alone has lost over 80% of its mangroves. Globally, we’re losing an area the size of Houston (1,500 km²) every single year.

More than 50% of the world’s original mangrove forest area has been lost in the last 50 years, mostly for coastal development or aquaculture (such as shrimp farming). (Thailand alone has lost more than 80 percent of its mangrove forests.) Around the world, an area of mangroves nearly the size of Houston (1,500 square kilometers, or about 578 square miles) is lost each year.

Here’s the truth: traditional shrimp farms often rely on outdoor ponds, exposed to the elements. Sudden weather changes cause stress to the shrimps. Birds fly over and — yes — defecate into the water. With so much exposure, disease spreads fast. The result? Farmers resort to antibiotics and chemicals just to stay afloat.

And when disease hits hard? They panic harvest — pulling all the shrimps out, sick or not, before they die. That’s what ends up on many people’s plates. 🦐💔

Most shrimp in Thailand are euthanised using fresh water, which causes them to absorb water and increase in weight artificially. That means when you buy 500g of shrimp, you’re likely paying for some shrimp… and a lot of water. 💧

Not with us.

We gently euthanise our shrimps in a saltwater ice slurry — a process that better mimics their natural salty ocean environment. The result?
