A Special Gift from Ancient City Aegae: Zeytinbeli

Helenistik dönemden bugüne sayısız uygarlığa ev sahipliği yapan Adana’nın Yumurtalık (Ayas/Aegae Antik Kenti) ilçesine bağlı Zeytinbeli Kasabası’nda zeytincilik hızla gelişiyor.

Olive cultivation is developing with utmost pace in Zeytinbeli village of Yumurtalık (Ancient City Ayas/Aegae) district of Adana province, which hosted numerous civilizations from the Hellenistic period to date.

Antik çağlardan bugüne zeytincilik yapıldığı bilinen Zeytinbeli, iklim, doğal koşullar ve toprak özellikleri ile zeytin tarımına en uygun alanlardan biri olmasına rağmen küçük çaplı üretimler nedeniyle bu özel lezzeti ne yazık ki yöre insanlarından başkası tanımıyordu.

Zeytinbeli is known as a place where olive cultivation has been made from the ancient ages up to the present. Although this village is one of the most suitable areas for olive farming with its climate, natural conditions and soil characteristics, unfortunately, nobody other than the local people knew this special taste because of small-scale production.

Zeytinbeli, yörenin bu ayrıcalığını yaygınlaştırmak, paylaşmak ideali ile doğdu.

Zeytinbeli emerged with the ideal of widening and sharing such privilege of this locality.

Zeytinbeli is located at a point where the fertile soil of Çukurova (Cilicia) meets with the Mediterranean Sea and its name was inspired from olives. The olives handpicked from their branches one by one in private olive farms of Coşkun family in Zeytinbeli are transformed into Zeytinbeli olive oil at once through modern methods.
