Back at Dark Sky again since they are two blocks from the music festival and we haven’t tried their pizza yet. Having another flight today with some overlap from yesterday but also a few new ones. This time we’re sitting in the pizzeria rather than the Biergarten because we were hungry. The pizza was really good…not greasy, and the crust was exceptional.

Dropped in at Flagstaff Brewing before walking over to the music festival and should’ve saved my time and money. They are “between brewers” according to the bartender and only have two of their own beers on tap but quite a few good guest taps. Full food menu that I would guess is far better than their beers.

Where’s Waldo in the ladies’ bathroom. I feel like Mick Jagger. 🤣

Nice hike this morning on Fatman’s Loop (named after Fatman’s Gap along the trail - a tightish squeeze between two rocks you have to pass through to continue) climbing Mt Elden and looking down over Flagstaff among 900 year old Alligator Junipers and a 500,000 year old lava flow, and now time to reward ourselves before we walk down the street to the Flagstaff Music Festival. 👍

Beautiful 77 degree sunny day today so we’re sitting on the patio where there is 90s alternative playing relatively lightly.

Another highly rated brewery, Mother Road is also one of the larger craft beer producers in AZ. Tower Station is definitely its most popular brew and there are multiple variations of it on tap tonight. Large outdoor seating area and a smaller, but ample, indoor area. Music playing too lightly so the din of conversations is mostly what you hear during your time here, which can grind on your senses after a while. They also have a full liquor selection, wines, and even a speakeasy cocktail bar behind the restrooms (second to last pic). Food is mostly burgers and bar finger foods from the food truck outside.

The building is originally a purpose-built commercial steam laundry from 1925. The old push to open windows are pretty cool but I bet it was hotter than hell working in here before A/C, even in Flagstaff where it’s 30 degrees cooler than most of the rest of AZ right now. 🔥🥵

Dropped into this brewery and restaurant, which definitely feels more like a restaurant, after eating at a Dia de Los Mu***os themed Sonoran style restaurant a few blocks away, so we’re only here for beer. 😎 This is the OG brewery (1994) in Flagstaff. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware they are sister restaurants with Lumberyard, so they share many beers. I couldn’t come up with enough of them to make up a 6-beer flight without having some I already had at Lumberyard, so I just had a couple pints to try out the two that sound intriguing and both were very good!

A couple hikes today, one scenic hike at Aspen Loop Nature Trail to see beautiful vistas of the surrounding area and the second at Walnut Canyon to see the Sinaguan cliff dwellings and the beautiful canyon area. Now we’re having some well deserved beers at this highly rated brewery.

There are two separate businesses here - DSB inside a pizza restaurant and the DSB Biergarten where we decided to sit because the patio area is nicer. It’s lightly raining now but they have many nice umbrellas and we found a table with one.

Jazz/Pop music playing relatively low for ambiance, but it’s streetfront, so people watching is the primary draw of sitting outside. We ordered some House Tots with pork belly burnt ends that was exceptionally good! I was disappointed with the portion size for $20 but the taste and amount of burnt ends you get made it worthwhile.

Had to get up a bit earlier than I’d like on my birthday to head to Sedona and rent a RAZR to go drive around the desert. After hiking Devil’s Bridge and riding around for 4 hours, it was 101 degrees and time to find a brewery! This one is the closest one to where we rented the RAZR so here we are.

Smallish interior and exterior with seating for only around 30 inside, though it didn’t get full, and around 50 or so outside. A food truck was serving up some bar basics like corn dogs, pitas, and other finger foods. Music playing at a good volume but still not much ambiance today, but it’s early afternoon on a Thursday, so that’s to be expected.

Flights only consist of (3) 5oz pours and, like the rest of the beer prices, aren’t a value by any means. I think this may have been the most expensive brewery I’ve ever been to, topping even Treehouse (one of the top 10 breweries in the country) directly on the beautiful beach at Cape Cod. They may be out kicking their coverage since the beers were only mediocre and Sedona isn’t nearly as much of a tourist destination as many other places I’ve visited breweries. Perhaps also why they were relatively empty, The ShadMan Thinketh. 🤔🤷‍♂️

A good respite from the heat but I’ll try one of the other breweries in town next time I’m in Sedona.

Just got to Flagstaff, checked into the hotel then out for only one more brewery tonight since we have an early morning in Sedona tomorrow. This one is just across the tracks from the Visitor’s Center and there are a couple others in as many blocks that we’ll try later while here.

Cozy interior on the bar side with seating only for 30 or so but a large outdoor area and it look liked there is another indoor seating area adjacent to this one. Music playing a bit too lightly for my taste so you can hear the bar fridges and dishwasher over it. Full food menu but we’ve already eaten.

Flights here are (6) 5oz pours, which is a big flight…nearly 2 full pints. Good value for the $14 price tag.

A couple more hours down I-40 and it was Beer:30 so we stopped in Williams, AZ about 30 minutes from Flagstaff to charge the rental car and use the BOGO offer in my PubPass app. This one is super convenient for those driving EVs with Tesla chargers in the parking lot and CCS1 chargers next door at the La Quinta. 👍

Wood and stone abound in this lodge looking brewery with a large main area plus an upstairs and a smallish outdoor area. There’s a small waterfall and pond inside and the running water sounds between songs is awesome. Full food menu but we ate a couple hours ago so only had the cheese curds here.

We’re at 6800ft of elevation here and it’s a beautiful 79 degree day, a welcome break since it’s 109 in Lake Havasu City where we started our day. 😎

Heading from Lake Havasu City to my next stay in Flagstaff, I stopped off in Historic Kingman on Route 66 for a brewery, some food and to put a charge on the rental car. Three breweries within a few blocks of each other here on Beale St and I chose this one for the reviews of their pizza.

Open air setup with the garage doors rolled up and with it being 98 degrees outside, it would be pretty uncomfortable in here if there didn’t happen to be one small portable AC sitting in a corner just big enough to blow cool air on the one chair I sat in. Score!

Music playing not nearly loud enough so the ambiance is basically just bar sounds, people talking, and a forklift moving inventory with an occasional dog bark to break the monotony.

They have a “hoppy hour” deal for a pizza and 2 pints for $30 when the pizzas alone are usually $30, so I opted for that rather than a flight.
