The universe lost its balance. To restore cosmic harmony, the Divine Mother was born again as Parvati, the daughter of the mighty Himalayas. From childhood, Parvati knew her destiny. She wished to reunite with Lord Shiva—not for personal happiness alone—but to restore balance to creation itself.

The Penance That Won Lord Shiva's Heart
One of the most inspiring stories in Hindu mythology is Parvati's extraordinary tapas (penance). Despite being born a princess, she renounced royal comforts and meditated in the Himalayas for years.
She survived on leaves. Later, even leaves were abandoned.
