Who is Brendon Charles, our Founder?

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago Brendon Charles left home for Georgia, USA for University studies. Whilst visiting vineyards in Napa - Charles developed a true passion and appreciation for wine. After completing a Master of Science degree in International Hotel & Resort Management at Oxford Brookes University, he moved to London. He worked at Bar Battu, an organic wine bar, The Vintry and the Intercontinental Park Lane. Brendon later moved to Dubai and started working with some of the city’s best Sommelier and at some of the city’s best restaurants. He was part of the pre-opening team at Cave Wine Bar in the Conrad Hotel and Hakkasan, before joining Okku Dubai. After three years there, he worked his way up to Head Sommelier. He then join Pierchic, part of Jumeirah Group Restaurant, as a Beverage Manager. While in Dubai, Brendon expanded his knowledge by studying Sake, ci**rs and spirits. His latest project saw him return to the Caribbean at Jade Mountain Resort as a Restaurant Manager and Head Sommelier.

Brendon Charles has won several awards over the past few years such as the ‘Sommelier of the Year’ for the Middle East in 2017. Two years in a row, in 2017 and 2018, he appeared in the Wine Spectator magazine for achieving the Award of Excellence for the Wine Menus he created for the different restaurant he was working for. These awards have just validated his hard work and dedication to his passion and his career.

Recently, Brendon decided to create his own company, BC Hospitality Limited and his Wine & Gourmet store, Sommelier to share his knowledge and passion with others. He is determined to work with local hospitality providers to take the Caribbean food and beverage to the next level.
