How could you resist this Jumbo crispy macadamia crusted shrimp by ?
This crispy, golden shrimp is coated in buttery macadamia nuts with a hint of garlic, citrus, and sweetness from honey — this crowd-pleasing dish is crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with tropical flavor in every bite. Perfect as an appetizer or served over rice, salad, or lettuce wraps for a light and flavorful meal!
INGREDIENTS
1 lb bag, jumbo shrimp. Peeled, deveined, rinsed, and dried.
1/2 cup macadamia nuts, finely chopped
1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs or corn flour crumbs (or gluten-free breadcrumbs)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp lemon zest
Salt, to taste
2 tbsp honey
1 egg, beaten
INSTRUCTIONS
For the oven: Preheat to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
For the air fryer: Preheat to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil.
In a shallow bowl, combine the chopped macadamia nuts, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, lemon zest, and salt.
Place the beaten egg in one bowl and the macadamia coating mixture in another.
Dip each shrimp piece into the beaten egg, then press it into the macadamia mixture to coat evenly.
For the oven: Arrange coated shrimp pieces on the prepared baking sheet.
For the air fryer: Place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the shrimp is cooked through and the crust is golden brown.
Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the shrimp is cooked through and the crust is crispy and golden.
Drizzle honey over the top of the crispy shrimp bites.
