It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing and transition of Siew "Kelvin" Mungalsingh, the co-founder of Kelvin & Rose Hot Doubles. His many philosophical discussions, interspersed with light-hearted moments will be missed by many a customer, who enjoyed his company as much as our lovingly prepared meals.

Prior to his passing on March 5th, 2022, Siew shared the following thoughts on his journey:

"When I met her (Rose), I never knew I would become a doubles man. It started in 1981, for the Carnival we had given it a shot, and it worked. So, from 1981 to now we have been doing doubles and that is over 37 years (41 to present). It has been a long journey but a very successful one.

"The secret to our doubles is commitment. My wife, Rose, is the person who prepares the channa, no one else in 37 years has ever kneaded our flour. She puts the work together, she puts the salt in the channa. I make all the chutneys, the cucumbers put together the pepper sauces– that’s my part of the work now. She and my daughters, they do the barras. No one has ever put their hands in our work. Since it’s a family-oriented business, my wife is the person who has to get the credit for mostly everything. But we all work together as a team."

Siew "Kelvin" Mungalsingh was born on the 11th of December, 1953. He was a peaceful, genuine and hardworking man who was loved by all. He is survived by his wife Rose, and his daughters Lisa, Elizabeth and Kim. He was the grandfather of six.
