老街 Old street
雙溪曾經繁華熱鬧的老街早已不復存在。如今的街景是飽受煤礦產業衰落人口大量外流、突發洪水以及目光短淺政客決策的不協調城鄉道路拓寬工程摧殘。昔日的輝煌與古樸的建築風格，如今只存在於60歲以上當地居民的記憶中。此外，由於行政區劃分的變更——從台北縣雙溪鄉劃歸新北市雙溪區——許多原先的鄉鎮發展項目被遺忘、欠缺維護、甚至廢棄。
老街以三忠廟為中心向外延伸，涵蓋大同街、東榮街、長安街、泰昌街和勝利街。原先的市場就位於三忠廟前方及其周邊。這裡有布匹店、魚販、肉舖、菜攤、雜貨店、冰果店、理髮店、美容店、碾米廠、米店、木屐店、皮鞋店、製作棉被鋪、中藥店、西藥店、香爐店、木炭鋪、文具店、醫院、戲院、麵條廠、茶室、撞球間、家具店、金飾店、刻印店、鍋碗瓢盆店、理髮廳、美容院、五金店、竹製品編織、豆漿店、水果店、冰果店，以及其他餐飲小吃店。幾乎家家戶戶都開門營業。長安街的盡頭甚至還有一座舊日渡口的遺址。

The once bustling old street of Shuangxi is long gone. Today, its streets are ravaged by the decline of the coal mining industry, massive population outflow, sudden floods, and short-sighted, uncoordinated urban and rural road widening projects. Its former glory and rustic architectural style now exist only in the memories of local residents over 60 years old. Furthermore, due to administrative changes—from Shuangxi Township in Taipei County to Shuangxi District in New Taipei City—many former township development projects have been forgotten or abandoned.
The old street zone extends outwards from the Sanzhong Temple, encompassing Datong Street, Dongrong Street, Chang'an Street, Taichang Street, and Shengli Street. The original market was located in front of and around the Sanzhong Temple. Here you'll find fabric shops, fishmongers, butchers, vegetable stalls, grocery stores, ice cream shops, barbershops, beauty salons, quilt-mqking shop, charcoal shop, stationary shop, billard hall, rice mills, rice shops, clog shops, leather shoe shops, Chinese medicine shops, drog store, joss stick and candle shops, hospital, theater, noodle factory, carpentaries, jewelry shop, engraving shop, kitchenware shops, barbershops, beauty salons, hardware stores, bamboo basket weaving shops, soy milk shop, fruit shops, ice cream shops, and other food and snack shops. Almost every household is open for business. At the end of Chang'an Street, there's even the ruins of an old ferry dock.
