The National Ranching Company Limited ( NARCO) is a commercial parastatal organization 100 percent owned by Government of Tanzania with the responsibility of running profitable business of livestock and livestock products mainly beef cattle by using ranching arrangement for domestic and export markets. NARCO has fifteen (15) ranches countrywide comprising an area of 547,928.76 hectares with a to
tal carrying capacity of 273,964.38 animal units. NARCO mandates extends further to development of integrated livestock industry with the view to produce value-added livestock products that puts NARCO in the limelight to engage and develop industries including abattoir, meat processing plants, leather and leather products manufacturing plants, milk processing plants, animal feeds processing factories and other associated industries. NARCO livestock include cattle, goats and sheep that are raised on natural pastures and mineral water. The Company has a total of 240 ranching blocks with a total area of 390,645.43 hectares which are subleased to private livestock keepers who are willing to undertake commercial livestock keeping.
