Balochistan is a region with a unified geographical and cultural character, but it is currently divided among three countries: Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. The name "Historical Balochistan" refers to this historical region associated with the Baloch people, not to an internationally recognized independent state.
📍 The largest part of this region lies within Pakistan, known as Balochistan Province, while other parts are located in southeastern Iran (Sistan and Baluchestan Province) and southern Afghanistan.
📊 The total area of the historical region is estimated at approximately 770,000 km², though this figure varies depending on the definition. Its population numbers in the tens of millions, distributed across the three countries.
🗣️ Balochi is the traditional mother tongue of the population, alongside other official languages such as Urdu, Persian, and Pashto, depending on the country.
⛽ Balochistan is known for its significant natural resources, including natural gas, copper, gold, coal, and chromium, in addition to its strategic location on the Arabian Sea via ports such as Gwadar (Pakistan) and Chabahar (Iran).
🏛️ The region has historically been home to diverse local and tribal entities, but during the 19th and 20th centuries, colonial-era border demarcations and political shifts led to its current division.
