I used to be a good athlete and academic performer during my high school days, I could jog from Namulanda/Kawuku upto Roofing / Zanna for those who don't know the distance between those center on Entebbe road, it's 10 km one way, about 20 kms trice a week. I believed I was the best athlete and academician . One day our school admin organized a racing competition covering exactly the same distance. the winner would ride away on a brand new Hero bicycle. To me that was a walk over. Early that Saturday a huge number of contestants were on the road with leading. I believed one of the bicycles was already mine given the level of
confidence and experience
I gathered . On our way back some members started dropping out, few remained on the race as we approached half of the distance. A few minutes later
more members stopped running I gathered momentum and continued kept in the lead. however, I felt a sharp prick
inside my pelvic, it got stronger as I sped. I persistently maintained my position towards my goal but the pain wouldn't let go of my ambition and efforts. I
really endured the pain to the point I couldn't do any more . I started slowing down this dripping to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th position before I knew I was already walking after admitting I wouldn't make it to the end line. someone took my position and won a brand new Hero Bicycle.
Moral of the Story:
Challenges are real, they are
often greater than our own ambitions. Persistence keeps us
going but endurance has a limit. You can't be good at everything at all times.
