Summary
Wastewater treatment plant operators are responsible for the purification of wastewater. They remove harmful organisms, solid wastes, and toxic chemicals from domestic and industrial wastewater.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The essential duties for this job include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

Operate, monitor, maintain, and trouble-shoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes.
Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of the plant operations, compliance with state and federal operating regulations. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Plant Manager.
Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations governing the wastewater treatment process and land spreading management.
Perform the installation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant and pumping stations and all of their components.
Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and machinery.
On call to respond to emergencies and breakdowns at the plant and pumping stations.
Conduct the necessary weekend checks of the treatment plant on a rotating basis.
Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
Maintain open communications with the Plant Manager regarding the treatment process and pumping stations operating and malfunctions, as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to these systems.
Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pumping stations.
Have a basic knowledge of State and Federal rules governing wastewater discharges and work’s safety.

Work independently and prioritize work based on guidelines and good judgment
Attend and participate in company training
Work from elevated lifts
Perform water chemical analysis. (Cooling towers and boilers)
Must be able to document and record vital information of the process system

• Know how to set up the machinery and run it
Need to get spec sheets to know what product is being ran
Clean the machine from wet water on the roller and tube
Assemble the hopper
Set up the program for the product being ran
Zero out the entire hopper before you start running
Know what film and tube to use for the product being ran
Check metal detector is working or tell QA to check for you
Need to know how to make adjustments when the machine is running and how to fix the machine in your best knowledge when it breaks down, notify your supervisor and maintenance right away if you cannot fix the issue
Know the responsibilities of the general labor employees
Ensure the product being bagged is acceptable
Ensure that all metal detector checks and weights are within specified range and documented
Double check with pack off lead that the paperwork is properly documented
Verify the quality of the bags and cases
Verify that the proper date code is on the bag
Date on the bag and the case label should match
Verify metal detector check and weights on bags
Verifications need to be done every half hour and documented
