With our first time calving heifers it’s important in our operation to keep a close eye on them when they come close to calving. Just in case there is any complications. This small one needed a little help being born. This heifer was not to sure what to do at first, but has turned out to be a great momma.

Making sure everyone is fed and has water. Fun fact: When the temperature drops, cattle will voluntarily eat more food to compensate for the extra energy needed to maintain their body temperature.

Our holding pens are going to be a little noisy for a while. These calves will be worked and sorted. For our livestock operation it’s important to us that we look at each calves body frame. This allows us to see how calves will grow into maturity.
