We had to say goodbye to our oldest girl, Silverfire Red Bandana.
She was always the first to greet me, the absolute loudest, and by far the nosiest. She was a beautiful doe who spent her days terrorizing the rest of the herd, licking me endlessly, and trying to eat my hair. As many times as she frustrated me, I could never bear to let her go.
I didn't fully realize the depth of her presence until I walked out to the pasture today and didn't see her come running or hear her calling out to me. Her absence is deafening.
She leaves behind her legacy through her daughter, Paradigm Shakespeare in Love, and her granddaughter, Paradigm Legend of Earthsea—a line I wish I had even more of in my herd.
Our farm has lost a little piece of its spirit, and my heart has lost a piece of itself. I don't even fully have the words yet. I just miss her so much.
Rest easy, sweet Bandana. 🕊️❤️
