🦃Happy Thanksgiving from 4G family to you!😘

We enjoyed a day filled with family, help with cooking, and lots of eating (which Hadleigh loves!) We are all exhausted and ready for a good nights sleep 😂😴🙏🏼

✨A little photo dump from last few weeks or so! We have just been very busy (which we are blessed for) that I haven’t shared much.

🔆our watermelon 🍉 from the garden this year! The girls LOVED it- esp Abilene.
🔆put away lots of tomato’s to can hopefully hear soon into sauce & salsa💃
🔆got our hay put up thanks to our neighbors for cutting it!
🔆spent some quality time with the girls❤️
🔆met Austin for his lunch break one day!
🔆oh and just no big deal- Charlie made it in the house for some extra lovin’s

September 1st! It’s fall y’all? 😍🎃🍂

We harvested some gourd pumpkins today, that we didn’t even intentionally grow! Me and the girls were very excited! 🍂🎃

We have been VERY blessed with our garden/harvest this year esp with it being the first year we did one as large as we did!

A friend said today “you can be overwhelmed & still be blessed!”

We sure have been SO blessed with our garden & harvests this year! And we are SO thankful!

But it also has been a little overwhelming trying to get it all taken care of in a timely manner so we don’t loose the harvest we have been blessed by with- plus juggle other life things- like just being a mom and dad to two young, strong willed, cowgirls! 🤪🥰

But we really are livin’the dream! Even during the tougher days- it’s all part of it and all worth it! And we get these sweet memories with the girls- who both LOVE helping with the corn, and really all things garden related🩷.

It’s hard work, but what worth having isn’t? 😉

Enjoying seeing everyone each year, the girls enjoyed the pool with Dada & both love the show❤️

Night ☝🏼last night!

Thankful to be able to do this event every year.
And now that my girls get to be a part of it too.
Crazy to think about the transition for Austin from riding here to working it instead. Sometimes I/we miss the days where Austin was riding too— but glad we are still apart of it in other ways and to raise our girls up the cowboy/western way. 🩷

🥰These are happy pictures shared and I truly cherish them and those moments— and they make the tough moments of the evening/day worth it!
But just a reminder and felt the need to share- while the photos on my IG/FB are sweet and smiles— the evening was not all sweet and smiles! But we don’t have our camera out for those moments do we?

This photo was bedtime- and even during this it wasn’t all sweet and cuddly- Abilene was being super silly and rough on her sister moments after this!
Abilene was difficult this evening- in spirts- because as you see in the second picture she was helpful and loving too!
Last night involved lots of messes, redirection, and discipline. This Mama was frustrated a lot of the evening trying to navigate a strong willed, emotional 3 year old & a full of energy goes everywhere 1 year old && get the farm stuff done that needed done while allowing them to learn and have fun.

Bed time consisted of sillies for Abilene and not wanting to go to sleep- and spilled milk all over Hadleigh Jane PJS because I guess I didn’t clasp the lid just right and we had to change 🙃

And then after they were in bed a goat got it’s head stuck in the fence and the horse tried to help get it out😳… my lights I was using while picking the garden both died && Abilene fought sleep in her bed for way too long 🙈.

All that to say— yes my pictures are normally of those special moments and when there is smiles or cute moments happening. But please remember that there is a lot more in someone’s day then the one sweet picture they share! Hang in there Mama, or Dada, farmer, stay at home mama , working mama, whatever it is! We all have our struggles/difficulties we are navigating each day- but still take those pictures of the sweet smiley times and use those when your frustrated - because it’s all worth it and even when you don’t feel like your doing great, you are 🩷 Parenting, farming, working, juggling all the things you are is tough- but you can do it! 💪🏼😘 and know others are dealing with things too even tho there social media doesn’t“look” like it😉

Wether it be gardening, parenting, caring for animals, cooking, cleaning -you name it — we help each other, or try to!

This picture was the other night- he picked the beans that we hadn’t yet , while I was finishing up canning the first round inside. [teamwork]

So very thankful that God gave me you. And that we have grown & learned/still learning how to truly do this life TOGETHER working towards our dreams , side by side. ❤️

Our house is a mess/dirty and will probably stay that way for a bit~~ but we have been blessed with our harvest this year and it’s keeping us BUSY. 🥰

I’ll be honest, I thought Austin was silly when he bought the big basket the other day— to me it looked like a basket for a bushel of crabs (Marylander in me) and thought no way we would fill it with just green beans!

BOY was I wrong! We filled the bushel basket and still have another row to pick this round!

I’m just so tickled and thankful, green beans were my main goal for our garden this year to be able to can enough for us for the year! And I will say I have worried about them some. But God proved to me he will provide! I was in awe this evening ! And loved even more so our girls being a part and seeming to love it too🩷

A very busy Saturday!
But our hearts our full and we are filled with blessings 🥰

Started the morning with some canning peppers, then the girls & I went to celebrate sweet McKenna’s 5th birthday at the splash pad! And then back to the garden again!🍅🫑

*Don’t let the pictures fool you though- we had our share of toddler meltdowns and difficulties through the day but these memories we have made are worth every second even the tough ones not shared in photos 😉*

*This girl keeps us on our toes… and sometimes I feel like all we are doing is correcting her/disciplining her, then other times she’s shy & upset… but then I get these big old smiles of pure JOY and personality & it helps me to keep going*
Parenting is not for the weak. Strong willed girls are just that — strong willed.
Praying we can keep her 🔥 but teach her how to use it well. 🙏🏼🩷

Is gardening with two young kids difficult?

YES.

Is it worth it?

Also YES.

The JOY on our girls faces (majority of the time) when they are in the garden or enjoying the harvest or let’s be honest enjoying the mud and the dirt - is worth it in itself.
Along with ALL the things it gives us opportunity to teach them throughout the whole process from starting seeds, to caring and tending to it, to harvesting it and cooking or canning it- the list goes on.

We are SO thankful and blessed to be able to have the means/land to do a bigger garden this year.

But bigger also comes with more work- on top of being a mom & dad, on top of working full time, on top of juggling life stuff—
Some days it’s going to the garden with the girls, some days it’s doing it in the dark after they are in bed, some days it’s dividing and conquering , some times we are behind on w**ding, and some days we can’t juggle it all.

All that to say- it’s worth it, the hard work the putting other things aside, the late nights, early mornings, working around nap times or bee times, is worth it for the whole family❤️ and it’s ok if you fail at some things- you learn and try again the next year or in the fall.

Thank God for our ability to cultivate the land he blessed us with, grown & harvest, and to teach our children all the hard work, praying that goes into it and also giving yourself grace 💕

🪴We are officially ready for garden season this year! 🪴 We might be a tad behind for some of the planting we want to do- but this is life, and we are doing all this with each full time jobs and raising two young wild cowgirls 💗 Learning to give myself some grace! It’s not in our timing anyways ☺️ I’am SO excited for this garden season… it’s only our second year really doing a garden and all the things that come with it. We are 100% still learning , but the only way to learn is to do! Just being in it at its completion of being fenced in and ground tilled, it just gave me so much peace. Having two (or even one-or more!) kiddos at a young age, while working , and trying to grow other dreams areas of your lives, and teach them all the things (manners, respect, etc lots of things the world is not) is 100% TOUGH at times.. but also is SO worth it, and it’s not always correcting and frustrating… sometimes it’s pure joy- dancing with your Da-Da in the kitchen with both girls one in each arm. 💜Let them help if they want to, yes it will take longer and it might not get done exactly how it’s supposed to… but they will enjoy it and so will you ☺️ and it teaches them to learn hands on. • • Abilene loves to help with most all things, but especially the dishes.. this day she actually asked to do the dishes before we went outside 🤣 Remember to let them be little, but to let them learn and allow them to do things even if it slows you down , you’ll miss it one day && your instilling good habits in your children for their future. Abilene won’t always want to do what Mama’s doing- but while she does now I’ll try to be the best example I can be for her (and still even when the days come she might not wanna “be like Mama”). Teaching her now about responsibilities that go with having land/animals , and the importance of taking proper care of them & the outcomes/reward that comes with it🥚. ✨All our egg sales go directly (we manage it😉) to Abilene~ and will be shared with Hadleigh once she’s a little older and can help care for them too— our goal is to have a AG~HJ egg stand set up along with supplying are already faithful buyers✨ We plan to upgrade our coop/chicken area this spring && add more chicks/chickens to the flock! 🥚Abilene’s eggs here at 4G🥚 Abilene helps take care of the chickens, collect the eggs and sort the eggs into cartons! Currently we just supply a few of my co workers with eggs.
