Flock zoomies!! Caught the tail end of last night's flock zoomies. They are very pleased with the cooler weather. Even the North Country Cheviots got in on the fun. Look at that big girl leap into the air!

I wish I could capture the true beauty of these fleeces. I see several hand spinner specials developing.

Luna wanted her turn in the spotlight. She even took it so far as to lay on one of the ewes to ensure she was included. Silly girl.

I'm so excited for next year's yarn already and I haven't even broken into all the boxes of yarn from this year yet.

The first frost of the season. Just a light frost, but all potted plants were brought in for the night. Now to bring them back out for the nice sunny day. Maybe I'll get a few of the new trees planted. 🍐 🍎 🌳

The first frost warning of the season brought a brisk morning just into the 40s at 8am. Pasture time is slowly winding down. Two more months before the flock comes home in preparations for winter lambing.

Happy Friday!! Such a busy weekend filled with great events, but I have a big favor to ask.

Last weekend's storm canceled so many market effecting so many farms. Please make a point to stop by your local market this weekend and give those farmers some extra support.

It's Thursday already!! That storm really threw me off. It's been such a busy week trying to catch up on paddock moves, shuffling sheep, normal errands, and all the things. I recorded an update on Tuesday and never got to posting it. So, here it is.

Some sheep have been shuffled at this point. One more group to adjust and then the next haul will be bringing them all home around Thanksgiving.

It's been a very busy summer managing the sheep and the rest of the farm, but with several days of rain I was able to pick up and finally finish the front panel of my rare endangered breed sweater.

Yarn:
Gulf Coast Native (my flock)
2023 shearing
Natural butter color from having more reds than whites in the flock at the time.

Pattern:
Cable Cropped Jane Sweater

Two more weeks and I'm closing out or breeding season. It will be the last sheep shuffle of the grazing season too.

Stardust, Hannah & Dinah (the GA girls) will be introduced to the rest of the flock and finish out the grazing season with them.

Orion will come home with the other big rams and Neptune will get his buddies back. Though I'm sure he may prefer the ladies.

We're just a few months away from lambing season!!

Storm prep. As a precaution against the heavy winds possible, I added extra weight to the sheep's field shelters.

All sheep will shelter in place out on pasture. Each group has been moved to fresh grass and have access to shelters. A couple areas of concern with dead trees that could hit fences, but we'll keep tabs as the storm progresses.
