It's just before 6am. The sun is rising. The world is coming out of the shadows. It's cool and perfect for morning walks before all the farm chores and projects of the day.

Now imagine we change daylight savings and it's pitch black until 8am. No time for calm mornings. No enjoying the sunrise with your coffee. You're already at your desk, in the dark, before the sun comes up.

I don't like when it gets dark early either, but Id rather start each day with the promise of light.

Some days the flock makes you feel like a real shepherd. Hang on to these days, because chaos is always just around the corner.

Even though it was just a light rain, we were completely soaked by the time we finished moving the sheep this afternoon....

Even though it was just a light rain, we were completely soaked by the time we finished moving the sheep this afternoon. We weren't the only ones out in the rain though. 8 in this group including 2 young bucks. 4 more across the road.

The video from this morning's coyote encounter. I've already crossed paths with another very dark juvenile since. This one by our farm.

Lotte and I interrupted a hunting lesson this morning. (video later) 2 adults and 2 juveniles were out hunting together....

2 adults and 2 juveniles were out hunting together. This time of year the spring pups are still learning to hunt, but it won't be too long before they start heading out on their own.

When they start heading out on their own is when we start to see them more. This is when our predator pressure will increase and our livestock dogs may become more vocal as inexperienced youth come too close and our dogs teach them to stay away.

Very cool experience. Lotte was not impressed.
