We are scheduled to inspect a new bee yard after being contacted by a landowner interested in leasing his property for beekeeping to facilitate pollination of his extensive fruit trees and flowers. This arrangement is particularly noteworthy as the owner will provide all necessary equipment at no expense to us. In exchange for managing the apiary, we will retain ownership of all honey produced, with the sole consideration being the provision of a single jar of honey to the landowner. Such mutually beneficial agreements are ideal, and it would be advantageous to encounter more proprietors with similar proposals.

Today we removed a hive from inside a home that has been building for at least two years that is known. This hive was over 5’ long and a solid 16” wide. Utilizing the new thermal imaging equipment made this a very successful removal. Next weekend we return to remove the other hive located inside the home.

I have officially utilized the new thermal imager to inspect a home for suspected honey bee activity today. The device enabled me to accurately locate the primary hive and discover an additional colony. Both hives are slated for removal tomorrow, a process that will be carried out without unnecessary damage to the walls. The challenge of locating hidden bee colonies has been significantly mitigated.

Did a quick peek in some hives. Queens have moved from top box to the lower box are laying eggs and some comb has been capped over. 21 days from now the hives will be doubling in size. The bees are ready to start making that delicious honey
