It’s that time again!

We are looking for a full time apprentice who wants to learn the art and science of vegetable farming— help us spread the word! On-farm housing, all the free veg you can eat, tons of professional development and lots of valuable hands-on experience included.

We’re also looking for part-time help this season. If you are down for getting your hands dirty, working in all weather conditions, smiling through challenges, and working really hard to grow fresh food for your community, holler at your girl.

As stated above, no prior farming experience is necessary, but an excellent attitude is mandatory.

Come work with us! Fresh air and vitamin D included ☀️

First snow of the season, and last ginger harvest of the season! It feels strange to be picking a tropical plant in the snow, but boy are we thankful for what our high tunnels allow us to grow in the cool season.

Also harvested the last of the field crops ahead of the very chilly temps coming our way this week.

The last of our fall veg is headed to the this Saturday

We care a lot about feeding our friends and neighbors who use SNAP at our farm stands. We are an authorized Maryland Market Money farm stand, which means that we can offer anyone with a SNAP card balance of zero $20 worth of produce, per customer, per day while the government is shutdown and SNAP benefits are being withheld.

Please contact us if you are impacted by this and are in need of fresh produce. Full details below on how the MMM Bridge program is working.

Our fall storage vegetables did way better than expected and we are hauling bushels of purple top turnips, beets, daikon radish, and carrots out of the field right now.

Anyone in need of bulk root veg? I know some folks asked for bushels of beets early in the season— Please message us if you’re interested! 🙏🏼

Ah, lovely tomatillos! Some love them, some don’t, and most agree that they are cute but don’t know what to do with them. Chances are though, if you’ve eaten Mexican food, you’ve probably tried them!

‘Tis the season for salsa verde, as we have all the ingredients on the farm in August (except lime juice). If you’ve never tried making it at home, here’s all you need:

1 ½ pounds tomatillos (about 12 medium), husked and rinsed

1 to 2 medium jalapeños, stemmed (omit for mild salsa, use 1 jalapeño for medium salsa and 2 jalapeños for hot salsa

½ cup chopped white onion (about ½ medium onion)

¼ cup packed fresh cilantro leaves (more if you love cilantro)

2 tablespoons to ¼ cup lime juice (1 to 2 medium limes, juiced), to taste

½ to 1 teaspoon salt, to taste

It’s that time to think about preserving the summer harvest, so if you’re feeling adventurous, we got allll the peppers and tomatillos you need!
