Joyful Blooms is a specialty cut flower business and dream of mine! My name is Katy Hitt and my husb I grew up on my family's dairy farm in Unadilla, NY.
Along with owning and showing Registered Holstein dairy cattle, we also had a large farm stand operation, selling everything from sweet corn and summer vegetables to pumpkins and fall decorations, all of which were grown by my family on our farm. I have endless memories of time spent with my mom and dad and siblings, learning that when you care for animals, crops and the land and treat them well,

Thought for sure last night’s frost would have been the end of my dahlias but they are still holding on close to the barn!! You can expect many more new dahlia varieties next year which should extend the season!!

Starting the clean out process! Not the most fun part but look at this statice I found that didn’t freeze! This can be dried and enjoyed all year long! I used this a lot this summer as filler but also have bunches like this one dried inside 😊💐❤️
Well everyone, we have finally received our first frost here on the farm, and with that Mother Nature has officially brought the flower season to a close.
I am struggling to find the words to express a proper “thank you” to you all. This little dream became a reality this year, and that is thanks to many things.

From July to the end of September, I was blessed to share my love of growing things with you all! I will share some stats at a later date. For now, it’s time to clean out all my gardens and dream about next year! I probably missed someone, but know that I am just overwhelmed with joy and so very thankful for all of you!

Praise God for RAIN!!!! Last week was a whirlwind (in a good way!) and the flowers….and me 😂🤷🏻♀️….needed some rainy days to catch up!
💐Last week produced 22 bouquets, 2 large funeral arrangements, and a bunch of centerpieces for a baby shower and by Friday the beds were a little bare, but they are quickly catching up, as you can see with these beauties I just made 😍
I get many questions about how long I will keep doing flowers. The answer is, as long as Mother Nature allows it!! I will keep watering, keep cutting and keep arranging until hard frost comes! 💐

I mean….😍😍😍 Had to share this one. In case you didn’t know, there is a such thing as the “Queen” series of zinnias. These are the “Queen Red Lime” and “Queen Lime With Blush”. Yep, only 2 varieties of zinnias here but they throw alllll sorts of variations and I’m here for it!!! So romantic and pretty, especially with my first pink Lisianthus thrown in there! ❤️💐🥰

I’ve got some super gorgeous dahlias right now! However, I’m doing a trial vase run for a few days to see how long they will last! It means a lot to me that my flowers are able to be enjoyed for as long as possible! One with flower food and one without. I’ll show you the results in a few days!!
