There’s a lot of work that goes into prepping for this type of weather plus ensuring the cattle are safe throughout the duration. It can be stressful. It is super cold. But it’s also beautiful…and can be fun. ❄️

Freezer Beef Update: Booking into 2026!

Isn’t it wild we’re already looking toward the New Year?! 2025 flew by and, as always, we have had the best customers. We are now booked through the end of the year and setting butcher dates into January & beyond.

2026 is shaping up to be an exciting one for Herd & Hive. Be sure to check back every once in awhile to see what’s going on! In the meantime, head over to the website to get your orders placed!

🥩 Sold out for summer & booking for fall! Visit our website to schedule your freezer beef order! 🥩

This time of the year is always very full with planting, hay, more planting, and more hay! The cattle get to rotate into different pastures and everyone is just happier. (Though the guys may be more tired and sweaty! 🤪)

It is of utmost importance to us that we are providing the nutrition our cattle need for their stage of life and energy expenditure (which is impacted by things like weather conditions.)

This includes ensuring our soil is healthy and thriving! The soil is a biodiverse, living thing and we take pride in knowing our pastures, forests, and water ways are teeming with life! No shortage of wildlife, lightning bugs, or bees here. 🙌🏼

Diet and environment definitely impact the product you consume! We aren’t just trying to pump out a product, we deeply care for what the Lord has entrusted to us—you just get to reep those benefits!

Harvest is in the books for 2024. We are able to turn the cows out on the fields to graze the corn stubble. This means cleaning up any grain we missed with the combine as well as the stalks and leaves of the corn. It’s a great way to get weight on the cows and to recycle the nutrients for next year’s crop. This picture shows that our cows have been hard at work picking through the leftover grain and converting it to a valuable source of manure. The manure builds the soil structure, increases organic matter and raises the microbial activity of our fields. Pretty awesome!

Hello! We’ve not given an update here in quite awhile and thought we should share what’s been going on! But for those who are just here for the beef (we totally get that 😉), we do have openings for November and beyond so head to the website to get on the list! ☝🏼

📰 Big news you may already know but we added a sweet baby girl to our herd! She arrived early September. We are all so in love & adjusting well! 🥰

🐂 Farm wise, the summer drought was rough. It took a lot of pasture rotating and water chasing but we were able to keep the cattle well taken care of! Harvest is now underway and moving right along. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

💨 We didn’t sustain much damage from the hurricane winds and the rain was the boost our pastures and waterways needed! 🌧️

🥩 Lastly, we have continued to move beef to your freezers despite being quiet here. Alex is taking cattle to the butcher today so I will be sending out emails very soon to our October customers!

🍂 We’re looking forward to the upcoming holiday season and the chance to reflect on another successful year with you all. We deeply appreciate your loyalty and support! ❤️❤️
