It’s the spring of rainbows 🌈

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many full (or double!) rainbows. They never come through in pictures, but hopefully you can imagine how beautiful the sky was this evening. ❤️

I love how my girls come running when they see me. ❤️

Sometimes keeping a small goat herd is hard, because in order to keep numbers at a manageable level, I’ve got to make hard choices and move animals that I have raised from babies and love dearly.

Bell is one of those hard cuts. So while I’m missing her today, here’s a little video of baby Bell and her buddies from the summer of 2024 (you may recognize a baby Shasta and a baby Ava in there too).

Before this afternoon’s rain, I caught this peaceful shot of a few of my girls relaxing on the tower. This moment is particularly special to me because a little while after taking this picture, my sweet Bell headed back to her original farm. I have known she was heading back to Sunny Daze for the last couple of months, and I have second guessed my decision the entire time. I love her. I miss her. But I think heading back to her birth farm is an amazing opportunity for her, and I think she’ll shine.

Well, I guess the garden is getting watered a little extra today.

🦆 Even the ducks seemed to think this rain was a little much 😂

Me? I’m sticking inside and folding laundry 🧺

First sugar snap pea harvest of 2026 (there were more!). These are probably my favorite vegetable we grow. Between these and the raspberries….more end up in my mouth than in the kitchen (and that’s ok!).

Do you have a favorite thing to munch on while you’re still out in the garden?

Happy hump day from Hayward, who likes to keep me on my toes. Or step on my toes. Either one works for him. He’s a sweet wether with a mischievous side. We say that he’s here to test fences before the bucks do any damage. 😂

The chicks are winning this battle.

Remember that tiny baby deer that we rescued from a hole last week? I spotted her this morning in the orchard, nibbling at the grass under a tree. I wanted to see if she was doing ok, so I quietly walked closer, a little at a time. Before I got to the tree, she curled up for a nap in the grass, but as soon as she heard me, she bolted.

It’s safe to say she’s healthy and doing great. She’s gotten so big!

Who knows how long a baby deer keeps its spots? Aren’t hers beautiful?

Welcome to my morning routine! I just started using something new with my chickens this week and I wanted to tell you guys about it.

Roostys sent me a bag of their GOLD DUST Daily Egg Booster to try out with my chickens. I’m adding a tablespoon per 5 birds to their feed every morning. This blend includes marigold (calendula), turmeric, carrot, chili flakes, flax seeds, brewers yeast,, calcium (limestone) and pumpkin.

Some of the benefits include:

Calendula: supports infection resistance and promotes improved gut health

Turmeric: enhanced yolk color and boosts immunity with natural antioxidants

Carrot: rich in beta-carotene and essential nutrients to boost yolks

Chili flakes: stimulated digestion and increases antioxidant protection

Flax seeds: omega-3 fatty acids for stronger shells and omega-3 enriched eggs

Thank you to Roostys.co for sending us this amazing BOOST for our chickens!
