OUR MOTTO AS OF LATE IS: MATH IS YOUR FRIEND!!!!

DO THE MATH

Our data shows that 40% of soil samples we pull come back with results of a soil water pH of less that 6.2. That could be said that 4 out of 10 fields have a pH below optimum for corn and beans.

in 2019 our lowest soil pH was 4.1 with a field average of 4.8. We see many fields with an average pH of 5.8. These fields are usually fields that have a rental agreement where the landlord does not pay for lime. Farmers are hesitant to buy lime on short term rental contracts. We understand.

However using some research from IPNI and from Methods of Assessing Soil Quality, Page 173 (SSSA, 1996) I put together this spreadsheet that shows what not liming soils does to your bottom line.

In short: YOU REALLY CANT AFFORD NOT TO LIME.
